Finally received my D610 IR back from the Nikon repair shop and was pleasantly surprised to find that they fixed the secondary mirror deployment/pin issue for a very modest cost (~$120).
There is evidence of light marks where some tools must have been used to effect the repair - but no mention in the invoice as to what they actually did.
Seems to be working OK but I will put it through its paces over the next few days.

That's good news. I'm glad you got it back and that all seems well. I'm looking forward to some inspirational IR photos!
Old pictures from 2016 that I re-edited today. Already posted them in the Fuji image thread, but just remembered they qualify here as well because they were taken with the Nikkor Ai-S 28mm 2.8

Siphiwe, congrats on the 50-135mm! You're going to love this lens. The zoom creep is normal. Zoom "fall" is also normal, but less so. It's hard to find one without either. I was lucky a few years ago when Scott (mp356) found one for me in great condition with very little zoom creep. In the end, it's something that we users of these old lenses come to expect when purchasing them (except maybe Rafael).
I will take it as a challenge Leighton, should I go for the 50-135mm ais or the 50-150mm E?

I had one where it started to come apart near the mount, found one on ebay that had no zoom creep and in excellent condition. I'd asked Richard Haw about it, and he said it was PITA to work on .
Beautiful Felix ! The 2nd has to be my favourite due to the sun on the peak (sunset?) What Fuji body was it ?

Good to see you Ken, Lovely sunset light. Bloody hd failures! I actually had an SSD one fail on me. It was like the first time a cd got scratched and didn't work.

It has been a while!
Seems as if my "One Gig" hard drive that came with the computer I bought in 2014 had developed a clickety clack sound that reminded me of the baseball cards we put on our bike wheels to make that sound which added speed and performance to the bike. Especially downhill!
Has a 2T solid state drive installed. Quicker and faster than the noisy bike could ever be,
No data was lost in the conversion. Some cash was though!
Here a snap of a sunset as it appeared into my little room.
I quite like a heavy vignette and really nice shot Siphewe. Congrats on the Leighton lens, I have heard of people using a strip of electrical tape lengthways on the lens to fix lens creep.
And please accept my condolences for your brother's passing, must have been tough to see a close family member die of that horrible disease.

Mystery lens has quite the vignette.
Thank you very much, Andy. Time has this ability of numbing the pain but forgettable, it isn't. Yeah, a little resistance is part of the shooting experience that makes MF such fun. Thanks for the tape idea.

Beautiful place Serge, thanks for sharing.
Rafael, glad you enjoyed them. It is an amazing place and a marvel of 16th century engineering. It would be very interesting to see the schematics of the pumping network for the three fountains.
