I answered the question nobody wanted an answer to, but me..."Is the modified TC-16a a good pairing with the Nikkor-P.C 55mm f3.5 ai'd". It is!
Yes Jim, I can attest that too. BTW superb flowers!
I have had very good reults with all my 55 Micro versions + TC16A (including tubes and reversed lenses):
D610 + TC16A + Micro-Nikkor 55mm f/2.8 ais (= 88mm f/4.5) hand held + built in flash + 2 diffusers. ISO 100, f/4.5 (exif wrong)) at 1/60s. MFD of 25cm. ~0.8x of magnification. Just a bokeh playing experiment.
Tiny drain fly (5mm at most). - 2 focus stacked images.
Experiment with a D7100 + TC16A + PK13 (27.5mm tube) + reversed Micro-Nikkor 55mm f/3.5 ai + SB400 + homemade diffuser, hand held, ISO 100, f/13 at 1/60s. ~20% cropped.
The TC16A is just magnifying 1.6x the reversed lens + tube magnification.
Wow Jose! I have got to pass this kit configuration along to my son (Forest health entomologist). Guess I will be on the lookout for a modified TC-16a 👀

A couple rolls finally developed and scanned tonight. This one is from my Nikon FG and 50mm 1.8 series e on fujifilm C200.
Later this week I'll develop the B&W film I put through the F with the 55mm 1.2. Cinestill is making it easy with their chemicals to develop at home so I'm pretty excited about the next couple rolls of film.

Went back to the wildflower field for a de-stress walk after work. Took this one with the sun setting at my back. Gave a good warm glow to the field.
Still using the Nikkor 75mm/2.8
No crop, but added some vignette to the image. None caused by the lens.
George
I do like the look this combo produces. A 3D look with this one.

I'm very tempted to say this 75mm is something special, but that could be considered as praising the pot instead of the chef. You sure are cooking some great recipes with this combination, George.
Thanks George. The light drew me to the scene, and after a short wait I realized that the koi in the pond was never going to let me get a still reflection :-) worked out this time just fine.

Great shot Ray. I like the reflection and especially the timing of the ripple in the water. Really nice and peaceful looking photo.
Great “thirds” framing on those. I really like the background on the second shot with the hint of structure/building in the right side. Reminds me of a place we used to camp in the NC mountains. Foggy mornings on the hill sides. I can feel the dampness in those images.

A couple of B&Ws with the 50-135mm.
Good to see the film used. Nice image. Looking forward to your homebrew Cinestill
Are you using the DF96 monobath or D96 developer?
George

Jose,
All of these are excellent. I'm sure it is not lost on you - that combining a tube and a reversed lens on the modified tc-16a is the only way to get auto focus at such close distances. You still have to get creative with the lighting, but I believe this combo may open up a new avenue in close macro work. Love the feathery drain fly details.
