Unfortunately my reappearance is going to be short-lived. I just came back from hospital where I went for a battery of tests on my arm and neck. I have a pinched nerve around C6 which is causing enough concern for the neurosurgeon. You could say he gets paid to cut people up and that's what he wants to do on Thursday next week. I'll be in for a few days with recovery expected to take 4-6 weeks. Currently I am struggling with the left arm.

All the best to you Siphiwe. My brother-in-law had the same issue and I am happy to say after similar recovery time and rehab, he was as good as new.
Siphiwe, major bummer. how long do they say before you can pick up cameras again?

I'm sorry to hear this. I have a coworker who had this same problem. He had surgery a week before Christmas and was back at work (desk job) working half days on Jan 4. He said he feels so much better and that having surgery was one of the best decisions he has ever made.

Good luck to you!
Same message Siphiwe - sorry to hear about this.
I have two work colleagues who have recently gone through similar surgery to sucessfully alleviate the pain and discomfort.

Siphiwe, the calm after the storm was refreshing.
All the best to you and hope your full recovery is super speedy.

Serge, the river shot with the rower is simply outstanding. Looks reasonably warm there for this time of year.
Thank you, Ray.
The high temperatures ranged from the mid 40s and 50s which was comfortable with all the walking. The not so great part was the wet weather of which there was plenty of. It is a nice time to visit given the low crowd levels, good deals on apartment rentals and beautiful Christmas decorations.
Thanks a lot everyone. I will be going in on Thursday for 3 days after which I have been informed full recovery is expected in 4-6 weeks. I shall not drive, only driven. In my opinion, if I am not allowed to hold even just a V1, then I'm possibly not allowed to even feed myself. The worst has been over the past two weeks. only the right hand could carry anything. The left arm was on fire. I've learnt to work around it now and have had a few physiotherapy sessions but obviously they are going to break me properly next week. I'll just take each week as it comes.
SiMuMe,
I hope your recovery is speedy, and your pain relief instant.
Jim

Siphiwe,
This lens fell in my lap (e-bay photo), this 55mm 1.2 O CRT in LTM mount will arrive today. KEH says it is in really good shape. Else they get it back.
This lens is very sharp at 5:1, great for flower photos like yours, stacked or fully open. It is also great for weird effects.
It was not cheap, but it was not NOCT price either. If I were a real photog I would just buy the NOCT, instead of spending more money than a NOCT on many other lenses.
