Nikon F6 in action in Baltimore. With the 105 2.5 AI Nikkor and Kodak Elite Chrome 100 slide film. After a couple of rolls, I think I am done with this film. Colors are nothing like Fuji Velvia, which has a consistent, deep saturated look. This film has a somewhat washed out look and this roll had a weird color cast. Had to correct the color cast in Photoshop.

So Jose, could I ask for your professional opinion on which species this would be?
thanks for all the likes on the Ferrari post. Lots of great images since my last visit here, especially Eastern California Sierras and lots of cars
So more cars - from the archive, taken in 2015, processed today
600mm f/4 with TC16a - some big block Can Am thunder for the old guys among us. F1 should really take a look at how much the audience loves this old brute technology when they are wondering why less and less people watch their high tech Prius race cars. It's all about sound, smell and the vibration in the ground you feel when a field of these cars goes past you. Power of nature stuff.

Just 20 years ago, F1 was still cool - this car screams around Road America at sound levels the modern series can only dream of, even with a de-tuned Judd motor, not the original high-strung Renault. 3.5 liter V10 music you can hear from 2 miles away.

I was at RA for the 30th Can-Am reunion in 96 back when the Como Inn was the race sponsor. 25 of those cars all running at the same time in anger is a pretty cool experience. I think maybe 5 cars finished the race....!

Peter always grateful for The 1800 shots! What a great car. To me they are like Leighton's doors. 😃😃😃
They are pretty special cars - this one is prepared by one of the outfits that usually only deals with the big boy toys such as GT40 and Lola T70s. Not the fastest cars, but they look fast
Only 6 weeks until the first vintage race of the season... Snow in the forecast for the next two days My Minis are still hibernating, a month longer than last year already..

Last July at the July HAWK event, we had 50 of them - more than at any real race in the past. Image below may have been posted here before. 600mm with 1.6x TC - turn 13 looking at 14. The UOP Shadow pictured above was the fastest of the bunch.

Nice! I am guessing if they are that tightly bunched, that would be a formation lap. I have been going to the Historics for about 25 years, but it has been a couple three years since I have been last. Seems like the hotel rooms have gotten pretty expensive recently, and last year I chose to go to the Indy cars for their return rather than the Redman. I am definitely overdue. Unfortunately, the dates often conflict with other car guy events, and I found that if I went every year, many years the cars would be the same as the year before. Sounds like I missed out last year.
Are you getting a press pass for these, or is your gear long enough that you don't need it?

Chin, I know birds from South America or more properly from central to south Brazil, so I am waiting feedback from European birders. Surely it is a bird in the Order Passeriformes, a passerine bird, perhaps a Wagtail??

I never had a press pass for vintage racing. Not worth the hassle. RA is one of the last places you can still shoot decent stuff from well behind the fence, plus tickets to vintage races aren't that expensive. You do need about 50% more lens to make up for the extr distance, but sometimes the really good angles are found well outside the area only media has access to (and they don't even know it).
I miss the big July race quite frequently as well, and I actually prefer the atmosphere during the much more laid back spring and fall vintage races. July is the time to see the more interesting cars, though. This year it'll be another big Can Am turnout (" The four-day weekend will also showcase a historic CAN-AM race, which is the highlight of this year’s event as an impressive field of cars is expected to gather in celebration of CAN-AM’s 51st Anniversary")
I never stayed there overnight with just 90 miles to get home, but this year I may get a campsite for IMSA and Indycar, because those I'll be shooting with a media pass, and commuting back and forth really eats into either edit time or sleep.

Cool. I come from Mpls so a hotel is pretty necessary unless doing a one day bonzai. Usually I have to stay as far away as Fon du Lac, so I am halfway to Madison already, it seems. I have had a couple media badges, but you are correct, it is kind of a hassle. I used to get good stuff in turn 5, but they have built so much safety fencing, those days are over without the pass. Canada is still a good spot. Are you shooting Indy for anyone specific?
My longest lens is a 300 F4, but I have converters, maybe I will bring them next time. I don't shoot long anywhere else really, so it doesn't make sense to invest in that kind of gear just for RA.
