From the Imp Ledge, White Mountain National Forest with 200 F4. I forgot to set the lens correctly on the camera, so Exif is indicating it was 105mm, but it is wrong.

They say in Fuji land that the X-E1 and it's gen 1 sensor is a classic. Matched with the 28mm f2.8 with your composition and choice of B&W, you have made a couple of really nice photos.
Thank you, Leighton.
I have read that as well. My only other experience with Fuji was the X-E2 and preferred its predecessor's output. To my decent eyes, Fuji altered the contrast curves, white balance and NR algorithms quite a bit for whatever reasons. The X-E1 has its operational quirks but have become accustomed to them.
I see that you are beginning to get some fall colors. Nice photos!

Very rich tones, I like. Is this the old home place?
Next field over. Could see that barn from the back door . I used to house tobacco in that barn as a kid/teenager. Back then around here everyone helped everyone else out in farming. Local kids worked. Very few migrant workers. All changed now.

Ben,
I use a local shop that has tons of older and trade in items. He has a NFS NOCT, in Raphael condition. It does not even have dust on it. Most stuff can be had at a reasonable price.
I learned something from Curtis who used proxy bid on eBay and sometimes he got lucky at the end of a bidding war. My “system” which I’ll give away is searching “Newly listed” plus “Buy it Now or Make Offer” items. Sometimes real deals and excellent values pop up and if you jump on them then and there. I don’t get into any bidding wars and time is on my side.
I also make counter offers on KEH and usually they’ll accept or counter with a lower amount. In fact I got my NOCT with a 20% off coupon which I sprung on them after a counter offer. I got it cheap plus they did a full CLR before shipping.
YMMV but if you want cheaper lenses, try it!!...Show more →
Thanks Ken I will give it a try. I need every tip I can get.
George - lately I've bought mostly from Japan, for the very reasons you give. I did buy a lens from the US, from Indiana, a couple of weeks ago. I'm still waiting. Yesterday I got a notification that it had arrived at the departure depot. So in over10 days it hasn't yet left the US. Next time, I'll ask about expedited shipping.
A few from a long walk today, was so nice to get moving again. I had the Micro Nikkor 200 F4, not F4.5, the 85 HC Auto, 34 1.8, and the 18 F3.5. A few more to post later when I get time.
Samy, great stuff with your smallest kit, that first piece at the aquarium shines with the tones, grain, and diagonal bridge cables.
Leighton those seem to be the first shots I've seen from your new Fuji. Did you change your processing or am I correctly detecting a change in Fuji colors?
Quite a piano Serge. Was it lit with color? If so, a color version might really pop with the translucence.
Another great capture Ben, with the lady and the mask in the light.
