Since it is a slow day.....I bought a 100 2.8 series E out of Japan. Pretty much mint in box with manuals and everything. Having a hard time achieving critical focus with it. It's so tiny for the focal length, I think I need a little more heft for a stable platform. Tried a few shots with it, most slightly off. reminds me of the bad old cheap gear film days:

Well, the merciful thing happened last night when my mother in law passed. She, like my dad who passed in January, was in monumental amounts of pain at the end, so it truly was a mercy. Now we are dealing with selfish siblings who do not want to honor their mothers last wishes and do what they want. It's disgusting.
Kevin, so sorry to hear this. It's especially hard when family members act in their own self-interest. I pray for comfort and peace for you and your family, and that the family drama will end.

Thanks to all for your Likes and comments on my recent image posts. This post--and a few others to come--features the area around Sulfur Mountain on the outskirts of Banff, Alberta, whose summit my wife and I accessed by riding up on a "gondola" (a cable car in this case, not a pointy black boat with a picturesque Italian gondolier). The photos below show a couple of views from the gondola, and a panorama from the summit (made easy by the Fuji X-E2's pano mode) courtesy of the 16 f/3.5 Ai fisheye (that's Banff down in the valley on the right-hand side of the pano)....Show more →

My condolences, Kevin. With each of my parents, and with my wife's much younger cousin, death (all in the past two years) provided a welcome relief from suffering. Nevertheless, each of those deaths was a significant loss for me and my wife, as well as the source of a meaningful reorientation to life and what is important.
Here are some more photos from the mountains of western Alberta. These are from Lake Louise where, I'm guessing, thousands of photos are taken per waking hour, every day, year 'round, because of its stunning beauty.
Acquired a nice 20mm 4.0 AI today - beautifully sharp in the center and the edges / corners are not too bad. My specimen is best at f8 and f11. No nice "bokeh" to speak of at this focal length.
Quick snap over afternoon coffee with my D800E, 1/125 @ 5.6 @ ISO 1100

Beautiful Glen, that last one is Lake Louise?
Thanks for your kind comments George and Chris! Yes, Chris, all three in that set were shot at Lake Louise.
Here are a few more for today from the top of Sulfur Mountain. You will notice that the first and third images show the same mountain from two different perspectives with two different focal lengths (sorry, I don't recall which ones--though I suspect the last shot came from the 85 f/1.8 HC, and the first may be from the 16 f/3.5 ai; I know for sure only that they were MFNG on the Fuji X-E2).
