Anyone using this adapter for their mirrorless? I like the silver band, it matches the style of MFNG's! I wonder if this adapter is solid or wobbly? It looks like it's built in segments instead of one solid piece. I'm thinking about getting one.
Joseph,
I haven't used this particular adapter, but I have used a similar Fotasy adapter for Fuji. The silver ring is actually functional. It allows you to change the aperture on G lenses; otherwise, you could only shoot G lenses wide open. My Fotasy adapter for Fuji always worked very well.

Yeah, happy birthday to this thread that has me spending more money on things I didn't know I'd fall in love with.
Dean, although I wasn't a member, I followed this thread for years. I think the guy from Oshkosh was Monty and he posted wonderful black and white pictures out of his D700. A legend of a camera, just like this thread.
Monty! Yes, that’s his name. Had some great shots and a funny guy too. Didn’t mind a selfie and took a lot of people shots at his work.
I think he ended up using a small wide APSC point and shoot like a GR or something.
The D700 was a very popular cam on this thread. Many of us had one. It was my first full frame digital camera and I don’t think any camera since has excited me as much as when I first got the D700. I still see some now second had in shops for next to nothing and think about buying one. I never do, but seeing one brings back a lot of great memories.
I think I moved to the D800E after the D700. I also remember Curtis moving from the D700 to the Df.

I have a couple, the ring is to open and close the aperture, it is very solid and well made.
Scott, Raffy - thanks for the reply on the adapter. I just ordered a couple. Will be getting back to the MFNG game shortly. Already started ordering back my favorite MFNG's (16 3.5, 28 2.8, 105 2.5)

Today marks the 11th anniversary of the thread. It has been an island of sanity on the internet and probably one of if not longest photography threads anywhere!
Maybe we can get It's founder, Curtis, to stop in for a few words.
Happy anniversary all
Yes, would be nice to hear from Curtis. He's done a great job with this thread.
I wonder what happened to some of the real early people?
I'm crap with names ... but ... the guy from Oshkosh (I think?) who did lots of street stuff? The American guy in Venice (Jean?) The guy with millions of cameras and lenses ... and something bad happened on at some point I think. He was banned (NikonAis was his handle)?
And to continue the tradition, I bought this because it seems to be in good condition and it is "made in occupied Japan". ebay photo. I like the name engraved by the original owner.
Monty was the guy from OshKosh, with his little dogs.
Don Jean is the American guy in Italy
The last one was Greg, he got banned for a Canon lens he majorly misrepresented in the Buy & Sell after he went all Canon (Nikkor AIS) Things blew up after the seller posted about the shape the lens was represented, and what he received, and how Greg refused to refund the money (Canon 200 f/1.8)

Stunning. They are restoring one of these in the Herbeton Historic Museum in Far North Queensland only it's not a convertible. I assume these were the US equivalent to a Rolls Royce ?
Here's some houses from Bathurst, a rural NSW famous for the Bathurst 1000, a V8 car race on The Mountain Course, a street circuit you can drive on, except when I was there as the race was on that weekend.

Good memory Laura. Certainly a whole lot better than mine
I sold a lens to Don Jean a few months ago and we talked a little of old times.
He is doing well and since the lens was advertised on By and Sell I assume he still lurks........
Sure loved his night shots!
