Nice lenses and picures!
The VW combi is bizarre. Why remove the suspension like that? It looks ridiculous and the slightest bump in the road would rip off your front bumper bar!
Today marks the 11th anniversary of the thread. It has been an island of sanity on the internet and probably one of if not longest photography threads anywhere!
Maybe we can get It's founder, Curtis, to stop in for a few words.

Agreed, both about the photos and the VW.
As a long time owner and user of VW campers I cannot imagine why people do that to them but it seems quite common.
'Neither use nor ornament' as we say in England.
Ride etc would be poor enough by modern standards in one as early as that without removing all suspension movement, and does it even steer without fouling the wheel arches? Bizarre.
One might as well cut an inch out of the barrel on a 105/2.5, 'to make it look better', focus? who needs that.

Simply put, it is a lens adapter (In my case Nikon F to Fuji X-mount) that has glass in it. It is designed to to reduce the focal length of any lens to reflect the lenses true focal length when shooting on a crop sensor camera. It also has the added benefit of increasing your f-stop. There is a mathematical formula you use to determine is lenses attributes.
Focal length of the lens x magnification of the adapter x crop factor of the camera = adapted focal length. For example, (50mm lens x 0.73 magnification) x 1.5 crop factor = 54.75mm length. For the f stop, the manufacture claims an increase of 1 stop. My understanding of this equation is simply f stop x magnification of the adapter. For example, 1.8f x 0.73 = 1.3f. ...Show more →
Leighton, I would be interested to hear which lenses you find it most effective on.
I have a Lens Turbo II Nikon to Fuji, but haven't used it much. And my short focal length MF primes are not Nikon.

Gerry
Gerry, the first time I tried it was with my 28mm f2.8 ais, huge difference. I believe the images were even sharper than before, which I found odd considering the added glass. But nonetheless, the images look great, to my eye anyway.
In fact, all my lenses seem better with it. The only lens I don't like using it on is my 50-135mm, which I consider a poor man's 70-200 on crop sensor Fuji.

Thanks Leighton, I must get it out again and persevere!
And a full moon coincides with this date tonight... and it's a blue moon, so chances are good that Curtis might show up

My wife and I went for a short ride in our area yesterday. She has the patience of a saint. I was shooting each subject with 3 cameras...Nikon D70 with 35/2, Nikon F with 50/1.8 and Ilford Delta 100, and Nikon Z5 with Z 24-70 AF. You may see some of these again once I process the film from the F.
