Interesting scene, I hadn't heard about that one. Not too close to Urbana, which is northwestern Maryland. St. Michaels is well over to the east, have to cross over the Chesapeake Bay and head south.

Pretty cool, Samy. I'd love to have one on my front lawn too, but it would take up the whole front lawn
Isn't that somewhat near the guy that does crazy outdoor Christmas scenes too, like the Santa and fighter jet collision display one year?

Phong, this is an unheralded Nikkor but an excellent performer. Congrats!
Hi Saph
It has to compromise some IQ for pancake design. I am happy with most of the photos taken this AM stepped down at least to F/5.6.
For better IQ in pancake shape, Voigtlander 20mm f/3.5 and 40mm f2 Ultron would be nicer but not MFNG
Some heavy news on the past two pages. Kevin, I hope things get better for your health. You have been in this battle for a while. Andy, that sounds rough after so many years but as Samy observes, you are taking it well. All the best.
Phong, you live in a very nice place. I enjoy your people pictures a lot.
Deepak, nice shots. Of all the FujiFilm X series, the X-H1 appealed to me the most. Thanks for sharing.
Sorry to hear of your continuing health issues Kevin, hang in there.
I myself am getting a divorce after 26 years of marriage. My wife is buying my half of the house equity so I plan to go on the adventure of a lifetime on my motorcycle, starting in the New Year with what they call here The Big Lap - all the way around Australia, then Tasmania and then hopefully New Zealand. I have no time limit so may take a couple of years.
(My daughter and her partner are coming for Xmas hence the delay to starting.)
After that, who knows !
All very amicable btw, we still love each other, we're just not IN love with each other anymore and life is too short. 2020 has taught us that at least !
Evidently they do something different every year. Wonder if their tradition will continue this year... If it does, you've got a road trip

Kevin, I found some carbs were not the same as others. The more refined the faster they convert to sugar. Mixing with protein seems to slow the conversion. White rice is like eating sugar with a spoon - huge spike. Brown rice has almost no effect. For years I was on both a renal, and diabetic diet. It was an extremely boring diet - with none of the things I enjoyed. Plain white bread, and berries. I had to avoid anything that had skins on them...like brown rice, beans, tomatoes, meat, animal protein, leafy green plants like spinach (I dreamt for years about my spanakopita) After the transplant I had to learn all over again what I could eat. I have a slice of this bread most every breakfast with cream cheese and cayenne pepper. Here is the recipe for the bread. It seems to convert to sugar slowly, so it is good for my glucose levels. (all with the 105mm f4.0 ais)
EDIT-Plus 2-3 teaspoons of salt
Planning on a slice of this today - which is bad for the sugar, but good for thanksgiving. A Bête Noire by my wife Barb. "It is a flour-less chocolate cake, with bourbon, peppercorns, orange and bitters. I've never made it before. Very interesting spice profile." I'll let you know...

For IR the 50/2 H or HC is my goto at that focal length.
What other MF glass do you have?
Colin
Hello Colin, I just have a small collection so far, Nikkor-N Auto 24mm f/2.8 Ai (converted), Nikkor Ai-S 50mm f/1.8 pancake and the Nikkor Ai-S ED 180mm f/2.8
Cheers, Andrew
This thread is really motoring along at the moment! Great to see.
Some more from our hike on Po Toi Island last week. I love this place. No one there and not even any phone reception Enjoying learning this type of photography as well. One day I'd like to try slide film but that's a way off I think.
Nikon F3HP & Portra 400 @ 320. NC 24/2.8, O 35/2, & HC 85/1.8

Andrew, I'd be interested to see how the 24/2.8 N fares in IR. I have the NC version and it is great. It is probably my most used lens for IR.
I have both 50/2 H and HC. There is very little difference between them on my IR camera. They are superb performers in visible light as well.
The 16/3.5 is the sharpest of the bunch. I have found that for my D7100 (with 720nm internal Kolari filter) the 200/4 does better than the 105 or 135 focal length lenses that I have.
99% of the time I convert my images to B&W and use a reasonable amount of sharpening and a touch of dehaze during PP in Lightroom. Bring on those white fluffy cloud days and low humidity........

Thank you Colin, that's all quite good to know. The 16/3.5 is of interest to me as is the 50/2 H. I do have the AF-S 16-85 zoom which covers a broad range but would definitely like to add a few more manual lenses to my collection.
The N 24 2.8 seems to work quite well, here are the results from today.
