...I carry a USMC pocket knife for the past 50 years and it’s not really good for hunting, camping, cooking, cutting or for much else but it’s invaluable when you need a knife, punch, screwdriver, awl or something else. So to that end It’s perfect...
Curious if the one you carry is similar to the USN issue I have from my submarine days. Takes a licking and keeps on ticking. Or is that a watch

Identical Almost .... Save mine says “U S Marine Corps” as issued . Good blade, good awl, now it’s useless bottle opener with a useful screwdriver and a sometimes useless can opener bring back memories. Had an issued black handled folding “electricians knife” with a screwdriver. That was neat too since it worked on every electrical box I tackled.
Take care of that knife so someday you can tell your grandkids what those weird looking blades do.
Hah. Just turned on you tube and I clicked on a recommended channel and learned that electricians knife is officially known as. TL-29. Learned the screwdriver is a screwdriver/scraper. Go figure!
Here's my "daily carry", a small Leatherman tool I bought at Radio Shack 20 or more years ago. Must be some sort of electrician's knife due to the provenance.
It was $30 and I almost didn't buy it, but a friend insisted, and it has been invaluable.
If I so much as look at a piece of wood it splinters, and it has a very nice tweaser that is well used!

A magnificent autumn day in Knysna 31* C (88*F). We had a braai (Siphiwe) barbecue and as the day shortened the mist came from the sea over the far hills. Stunning sight. 80-200 f4 80mm @f16
Oh that is so pretty. Interestingly, Sunday was also a great day in the east coast. We had a braai too.
Interesting to see in the Nikon D6 review posted on NR that the camera images are with a Non-Ai lens mounted. 50mm f/1.4 Nikkor-S. Serial number matches to Non-Ai.
We all know how good these lenses are, but I just found it strange that it was on a D6 for a review shot.

The very first line in that review suggests it's a modified pre-AI.
(Google Translate)
"It is no coincidence that I wanted to photograph it by mounting a 50mm Nikkor-S designed in 1962 as a standard for the Nikon F.
My copy, practically as new, is from 1971, a modified AI pre-AI that can still safely work on the new Nikon D6. "
I just thought it odd that you would do a review product shot for a flagship camera that is all about AF speed and speed shooting, with an old manual focus lens (modified or not) that at best would shoot aperture priority or at worst, stop down metering.
But also sounds like the reviewer would fit right in with the cast of characters on this thread who would do exactly that

Wait a minute - a non-AI lens? Does that mean it has a similar non-AI capability as the Df? Did the D5 have this?
I wish the flip up aperture coupling lever on the Df would have carried over to the other DSLR lines and had the ability to shoot the non-Ai lenses. Personally I like the large body D"x" cameras. Not necessarily the price, but like the form.
I would love to see the "pro" Z body (Z8 or what ever they call it) come out in the form factor of the F5 film camera. With the mirrorless design, the body thickness should not be an issue. And with a new FTZ with full aperture control for the older lenses.

I think it’s an opportunity for someone 3rd party to create an FTZ that would pass on AI data. It would probably have to be self powered. And I think I would just take a smart grip with vertical controls vs the current “dumb” grip.
Took a walk with my son today. Brought my D800 and the 50/2.0 ai (btw it´s not as near as good as the 50/1.8 ais so I gotta get one of those - again. Dont know why I sold the last one though )

Great series Kristian! Thanks for sharing your part of the world. The black and white works great in these.
