So you've been told you can mount these lenses on just about any camera with the right adaptor... Folks have done that and are enjoying themselves. But let's get serious here. These lenses were designed to be used on Nikon cameras and more recent cameras have features that allow easy use to these lenses.

I never thought you were the type to stoop to mirrorless camera shaming!

You will be sold if you try. It’s not suitable for BIF, but better in everything else. IBIS, focus peaking, 100% enlargement while focussing and I can go on.

Something different, looking up to the sky.Way late challenge #5, but this was unusual. Scheduled salute for front-line workers from the Ohio 180th Fighter Wing. From my backyard, the 180mm was not quite long enough. Have closer shot but with the 70-300 AF-P.

And here I thought I was being so generous and kind...

Besides, if he wants a full-frame experience going mirrorless would be an expensive proposition... Sony and Nikon, right? Even a mirrorless DX like Fuji would cost more than a D200 if he chose to go that way. I figure first things first... a good home for a Nikon lens is certainly a camera from Nikon.

Ani made me do it again!
I am presently addicted experimenting with different images. My computer hates me since it is working really hard to render the things I am throwing at it.
You never really know how things are going to turn out. This one was a bit different.

This is one of the frames from an infrared pano of the Ray Stata building at MIT in Boston.
The pano is given as reference and the single frame I 'twirled' is from somewhere in the middle.

What Doug said

Is your IR camera a 720nm or 850nm conversion? Asking because of the black sky.

I have a pretty good selection of manual focus lenses from the late 80s when I briefly earned a living shooting film. When digital hit I bought a D70 and it wouldn't meter with my manual lens so I just put them away. Very recently I learned there are some Nikon bodies that have aperture feelers and can meter in M or A mode. That makes me want to pick up one just to let them see the light again. I have a 24mm f2.8, 35mm f2, 105mm f1.8 and a 180mm f.2.8 that were quite expensive new, and they

Welcome Elkins, you are in EXACTLY the right place.

The D700, D3, D3S are great bodies but for a little more up to date, much better DR, better high ISO but cheap these days, best bang for your buck you can't beat any of the D800 series (D800, D800E, D810) IMO.

And you're right, the viewfinder of an FX body is much nicer than any of the DX bodies.

These shots bend my mind... make me think I should have indulged in the LSD that was on offer when I was a young man. Andy's play is a bit more tethered to the object being used so my mind stays in its lane. It is good that you include the original Colin so I can bring myself back.

I'm reminded of the Mandelbrot sets I encountered back at the time I was reading David Bohm's book Wholeness and the Implicate Order. Reality is much more slippery than we're inclined to believe.

Smoked a little dope but that was about it. Honestly, I think it scared me to be that out of control. All of which makes me a bit out of the mainstream when you consider I live in the heart of Deadheads. A woman who worked years for the Grateful Dead lives down the street from me and their are Deadheads wandering around Fairfax in tie-dyed clothes... or at least there were a few years ago. We're all getting a bit long in the tooth. It seems the current fashion has folks microdosing with LSD. It is definitely available in this corner of the world but I'd rather have a glass of single malt Islay Scotch whisky.

I've been admiring the twirl shots posted by Ani and Colin and thought I would investigate

Now normally, my processing is shall we say a little slap dash and frequently over done so I surprised my self by stopping the action a little short of where they did but I did kinda like how this shot of one of the holy men on the banks of the Ganges in Varanasi

Few more from last week. FE2 & 50/1.4 Ai-S. Kodak Portra 400 scanned on my Nikon V-ED.

Forgotten how much I love shooting film with the FE2/FM2 and the whole scanning process that goes along with it. Analog is still very popular in HK (lots of Lomography hipsters), and there's still many development labs around. I got this roll developed in 30 mins

I still use the Nikon Scan4 software that came with the Coolscan V-ED. I have tried Vuescan but still prefer the original Nikon software. I use my MacBook Air from many years ago running 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard / 2009) as the Scan4 software won't work with anything newer. Still works perfectly.

Very impressed Chuong! This kind of work has always fascinated me but I've never been in a situation where I could actually put a shop together. I love watching YouTube videos of furniture builders. Here's a fellow from Japan who does gorgeous work...

I also love watching videos of craftspeople making violins and guitars. This is high art to me. Hope you are able to live your dream Chuong.

It is a 720nm.
With the sun behind my back and low humidity conditions I can achieve the dark sky in LR by simply working the black slider to the left and tweaking the whites, highlights and shadows. A touch of dehaze is usually applied too.
Numerous lens/IR presets are used during the import process so I start with a known good position.
It is quick to do - but not all images work out with a nice black sky.

My next IR will probably be 850nm FX in order to guarantee those deep, deep blacks
My D610 is lined up to receive the IR treatment once I decide on what to replace it with.

Even with money set aside for a camera upgrade I am pretty content with what I have at the moment.

Very nice Chuong. Before I started farming, I used to make furniture. I inherited a whole shop of power tools from Barbara's Grandfather and loved working with wood. The cool thing about the tools is that they were all made in the 30's and still work fine.
