Passing on the torch using Nikon manual focus glass to the next generation
My son asked if there was something that he could set up other than his iPhone for documenting his entomology project. You would think he would know better than asking if I had anything
So with a little coaching and help with the "plumbing", he is off and running using the D850, Micro 55mm f/3.5 and a 7" camera monitor for critical focus.

That is one cool setup, thanks for sharing George! looking for a camera monitor already, any recommendations?
Nice pace, back to having to make time to catch up on the reading! The variety and quality of photos, and narratives and chatter, are always enjoyable. Still nothing MF Nikkor recent from my end, perhaps this upcoming snow chance on Friday will coincide with some free time from the WFH routine.
At the risk of leaving some great work out, some quick shoutouts:
1. Kudos to the usual flower masters
2. Jay, your consistency in good framing, angle/perspective, patience for the light, and processing make the house series outstanding.
3. Doug, the most photographed barn is well captured, love the stunning backdrop.
4. George, love the infrared landscapes, and the pic with your son. Quite a setup!

Great stuff George. Loving the gleaming table top too.
George Thanks for sharing your son's macro photography set up! I'd like to see a photo of that orange bug, so if it wouldn't violate some non-disclosure or forum NSFW rules, could you post an example?

Thanks for all the generous likes and comments!

Hi Jay. Sure thing.
He said it is an American lady. Bottom view patterns are really incredible.

Ray, I agree with the nice uptick in pace. We are expecting the same snow later Friday. Here is one from the dusting we had yesterday. Taken with the 105 f2.5 Ais.

Second one: Wow! Hope your son will have some good use of those shots.
Thanks for the complements everyone.
I will pass along to him. I think he did a good job.
Calling him my college refugee
He is having to really improvise like every one. This was his final senior semester and was mostly labs in the field. Very little lecture. Hard to do that locked down with campus closed. His last day of class is next Thursday then final exams. Then wait for his diploma to come in the mail.
Life on pause with no new jobs or many graduate programs open. But one thing for sure is he is not alone in this craziness.
