Venus exposure comprised of two 400 ISO exposures, 8 and 15 seconds at f/4.5.
There is a lot of flare, probably some from the camera body.
The lens makes rather defocused stars at best. I tried for a compromise between red, blue and smallest.
Certainly not the best lens for imaging stars but it was handy!
Beautiful flowers on the past pages. With the changing seasons I think it's time for some of us in the South to hand over the flower-picture reigns to you in the North. So long Summer, we shall miss you.
Great shot of a lovely house Jay, wondering if the bit overgrown garden is a side-effect of Covid-19 social distancing.
Weather permitting, I might have a moon to shoot over the next few days.
Sorry, I missed the "active duty" my brain went to oldest only! The USS Constitution is the oldest but is not really active, the LC-19 USS Blue Ridge's keel was laid Feb. 27, 1967 makingit the oldest truly active duty ship in the Navy, but I don't have a model.
As much stuff as I have to touch daily at work, between parcels, and catalogs, and magazines, and mail... Yes, there's lots of stuff being ordered for sure.

Nice handiwork George. It is funny watching all the delivery trucks dropping off this and that. I have an Amazon order on the way but anything coming from outside is of concern... including me when I've gone shopping as I did today. I use a disinfectant after shopping and wash my hands after I've carried everything inside and put away. Oranges are washed before I peel them. I think making your own camera wrist strap makes good sense. I can imagine for a working man like yourself having so much time on your hands can be a challenge. I expect we'll be sheltering-in-place for two more months. I think everyone is going to be a bit stir crazy by then...
You guys are killing me with the D3 images. I've been on the verge of committing to one for probably two years now. One of you just go ahead and push me over the edge, please.
Last shot on the roll. Tmax 100, F5, 100 Series E.
OK, so I put the 195XXX 55 1.2 to compare with the 223XXX at 1.2, at infinity, and yes the 195XXX is sharper and more contrasty, less veil. At 2.0 the difference is nearly NIL. The 195XXX has more field curvature which fits this scene better but makes the far conrners softer. Processing is copy paste.
The reals reason for the difference may be that the 195XXX has never been touched and is like new.
My "featured" LTM lens of the the week is the W-Nikkor-C 3.5cm f/3.5 Nippon Kogaku Tokyo.
This is an older version of the M39 mount that does not have 34.5mm filter threads. Fortunately the Leica SOOGZ filter adapter fits this perfectly and will allow use of 39mm filters which are needed for black and white (shown installed in the second image below). FYI - the SOOGZ adapter also fits the Nikkor 2.8cm f/3.5, 3.5cm f/2.5 and 5cm f/3.5 lenses.
Samy - it will probably fit your collapsable lens. If you want to send it to me I will test it
Third image is a shot using this lens with Orange filter.
Jack, good stuff with the crocuses (croci?) on this page!!
George, I doubt I want to put the collapsible 5cm in the mail at this point and risk getting it lost Will just have to wait out this virus before any kind of MFNG get together is possible, to try it out. Love your gear shots - Rafael-esque!
Offtrail - very cool strings! Even better with the F5.
Laura that sure's closeups! Stay safe.
Jay, love the 35mm PC shots
Steve you look you have Nikkors sprouting in your kitchen garden!!
Siphiwe good work with the D5500 + 135 on the moon.

That's what I want to hear! I was finally going to get one about a year ago, but opted at the last minute to try a cheap D600 instead and to let D3 prices come down more. The IQ is great, especially given how little I paid, but man it's just a hateful design.

Excellent images! That last one, though... I so miss having Saigas on the market. All the fun and practicality of an SKS without any of the splinters or cosmoline.
Nice to see everyone having such a good time. And welcome back Jack. Love those images. Now you can tell the secret... which lens did you use? Was an extension tube involved? I got an email reporting you'd posted on Shooting with Tubes so I'm guessing that is the case but I haven't gotten there yet... but soon. I have a 7 p.m. commitment so it will likely be a bit later. Thanks for all the photos and the gear conversation.
YES, a D3 is well worth an investment OffTrail though you can get the same sensor in a D700 for less money. But if the professional camera suits your taste you might consider going for the D3s for a bit better low-light performance. I've shot with the D700 a bit recently and still love the files it produces. 12 megapixels works just FINE.
PS - For those who haven't done so I'd encourage you to add your first name to your profile. This thread tends to be on a first name basis. You could also add a bit about yourself and if you're REALLY daring, you can list your camera gear so we could give you the advice you certainly NEED to BUY MORE LENSES...
