Things overhere are not that strict. It's a more a bit of common sense and almost every one is keeping the "social distance/isolation".
I'm working from home, but every afternoon I'm going for a bike ride. The walls are coming at me.
My wife is a police officer and she has to go to out for work. So I'm alone at home working, a little bit chatting with my colleagues and every now and then a conference meeting.
There're some small positive signs, it looks the pandemic is a bit over the peak, but the measurements taken by the government will stay until at least the end of the month and all events until June are cancelled.
In the weekends we try to find some quiet spots for walking and/or biking.
Our holiday to Portugal (site seeing and birding) is cancelled. But I cal that first world problems.
All the care employees are working their lungs out and I have great respect for their courage and dedication.
There're a lot of Corona victims among them.
I recall you like to build your computer which isn't likely going to happen if you take the Mac route. I don't think we need to debate the virtues of the different systems but I'm curious what is motivating you to consider this Leighton. And I do still love you even though you bought a Fuji camera. Real friendship, evern is cyberspace only happens when folks can disagree without becoming disagreeable. Especially at moments like these, we put aside inconsequential matters.
Well now, I'll be able to sleep tonight now knowing you still love me.
You're right, I built a killer computer about 6 years ago but it has Windows 7 on it which I love, but MS isn't supporting it anymore. I really don't care for Windows 10, thus my interest in changing. I also wouldn't mind keeping my brain exercising learning a new OS. I'm still deciding on which size MB Pro I want. Do you think the rumored 14" would be too small to use LR on?
George you may be able to trade it for the 200mm F2. True story about Amazon last week. Was looking for toilet paper. Almost all products had “Currently Unavailable” listed under the picture. Then it went on to list products offered by Amazon Commercial Ultra Plus and it listed 3 “USED” and new available. Further info said Used - Like New. So just wondering !!!!

I had just finished a conference call and had 30 minutes before my next one. A “force” came over me, drawing me out of the house.
I went down the road to my nearby Food Lion grocery store.
I walked in, and there it was on isle 9.
It had a bright glow all around it. A lone 12 pack of Food Lion toilet paper. It does exist!!
It is still in the truck waiting to come in the house under the cover of darkness later tonight.
It is my goal to shoot or do something camera related everyday. You find time when not commuting for 2-3 hours a day and running errands.
I went out for a lunch time walk with the 262 and the 5cm Nikkor that I posted yesterday. Wide open it is definitely an imperfect lens, but seems to fit this imperfect world at the moment.
It seems some of the neighborhood kids have taken their art class to the rocks and sidewalk at our pond. First two shots below wide open at f/1.4 and the third shot at f/2 (big difference in contrast in just one stop)
Have to admit, it would have been nice to have a tilting LCD screen for the last shot. As I was laying on the ground, one of the kids asked if I was ok

Honestly, I can't imagine doing photo processing on a laptop though I know people do that. When I traveled to Turkey with Rinie many years ago she brought her 13" MacBook. I used it primarily to offload photos from my D700, then saved them to a 500GB portable drive I brought with me. I did take the occasion to process a couple of photos to upload on FM but it was so painful after spending time on a 27" iMac. I love having all that real estate. Of course, you can attach your MacBook to a monitor which likely have. That works well.
One thing you might consider as you sort this out is to look at Apple's refurbished computers. Sometimes what is offered is new gear being cleared and even when a product is refurbished it has been completely worked over and comes with a full one year Apple warranty that can be extended with Apple Care. I've bought a few refurbished computers over the years and never had a problem either with cosmetics or performance. Here is a link to the refurbished Macs, both iMac and MacBooks.

I would say I do probably about 60% of my image processing on my MacBook Pro not hooked up to a monitor. The other 40% and just about all my video projects (Final Cut Pro) with a 27" Thunderbolt monitor plugged into the MacBook Pro. Works well for me. The MacBook is a 15" retina display.

I am under home arrest, no way for street shooting… so here are pics from the back catalogue (2018) with new PP.
We're supposed to be only going out if essential workers or for essential journeys but people here really don't seem to get it ...... yet. The number of cars out and about is only slightly less than normal.
We're fortunate that Cairns is a long way from anywhere, had about 20 cases, all but 1 are directly traced back to incoming flights from overseas.
Anyways, here's a picture of the cat with XT2 + 20UD equivalent FL 30mm
So much activity on the thread and really great photography, as usual. Day seven of our initial lock down here. It is gradually suffocating not being able to go out of the house, for our own health though. So one just has to stick to the plan.
I haven't picked up a camera yet, this week. So, I'm sharing something from the weekend and a test shot from long ago when I received the 105mm f/2.5.
Another MF image from the Outlaw contest Day 6 Ring of fire . I lit a fire lighter and put it in the back of my enclosed barbecue (black backdrop) and shot this with the 105 2.5 through a black plastic tube held in front of the lens - some interesting results. The reflection is off the inside of the tube. Ingrid chose "Flame" as the the theme for the day.

I wouldn't choose a MBP for PP. The screen is way too small for my liking.
I have one (2018 13") and although it's a very nice laptop I find it not usable for a PP a lot of files.
On the road for a few images it's ok. Only some basic selections.
At home I transfer everything to my iMac (2019 27") and this works much better.

Great result there, Oosty! Second day of sucky Durban weather. I so wanted a braai yesterday.

I have been perusing the refurbished site, some nice deals there. Peter (Oosty) and I were just chatting and I told him I didn't want to be tied down to a desktop anymore. So, my next machine will definitely be a laptop, just not sure which one yet. I really like the look of the new 16" MBP, but was wondering about the size. I'll keep my 27" monitor so I can use that if needed, but really, I don't do that much intense editing anymore, just a little tweaking.

G
Do you fine the 15" easy enough to edit on? If you do, then I should think the 16" would be just a tad better.

I just asked George and he uses a 15". DO you think the 16" would be usable for quick edits?
