I have never seen any birds or animals eat the actual berries.

Birds: Thrushes, blackbirds, redwings, finches, and goldfinches all eat rose hips in the fall and winter. Rose hips are a rich source of vitamins and antioxidants that help birds survive the colder months.
Squirrels: Squirrels eat rose hips, but they can't digest the achenes, which are then spread in their droppings. In some areas, like the Rocky Mountains, squirrels compete with bears for rose hips.
Rabbits: Rabbits eat rose hips as they soften.
Bears: Bears eat rose hips.

This species has been messing with me for several days 😃
Today I sat outside hiding for several hours and then it didn't come..
goes in and is going to do something else and looks and then it's there again
and gets to take pictures through the window as usual 😃
