i got this lens after viewing this thread. i was really looking for a long lens to take on landscape trips. i find this lens to be good at the 100mm end and weak on the 300mm end. i don't know maybe i haven't gotten my focus down yet, i didn't bring a tripod this time. there was a lot of vignette at the 300mm end and requires cropping. this was at the 100mm end
the images of the thread are simple awesome!!!! provably mostly due to the photographers
I find this relativelly old thread because I was thinking to compare this with the Voigtlander 180mm f4. Have somebody any experience with it or/and compared with the contax 100-300?
Regards and thanks in advance! Very good photos indeed!!!

I had both at one time last year. Quality was very close in the tests that I did. Since I always take the Contax with me for landscape, I didn't need to keep the Voigtlander (I bought it first). I suspect that the Voigtlander's high price will drop when a new E-mount version will (probably) be released, so I sold it before that happened.
hello, thanks your your answer. You mentioned you always took the contax. it is same size? or weight? or the user experience is much better... or it is much more flexible...
any detail is wellcome
does not look like they are going to produce it new in short time any of them

No, the Contax is considerably larger and heavier than the Voigtlander 180, but it's also much more flexible since you aren't limited to 180mm. On the other hand, the Contax is light** enough that it doesn't weigh down the bag such as a huge and heavy 100-400 Sony or Canon lens would do, so I make a point to carry it all the time.
**Of course it isn't actually "small and light" by itself, but compared to a 100-400, it's a lot lighter.

I have a very old yashica 70-200 that has this feature. This is very bad, to focus, to turn the filters... Of course the objective is also not the best too
There is some alternative to Contax 100-300 without the head turning?
Regards

Yes, it does turn, so you would want to adjust a polarizer after focusing.
