I think i have not caught the Minolta 58/1.2 stuck wide open disease yet, the bokeh improves a lot at f/2 and it is contrastier.

newbie question: is it ok to crosspost in different threads, e.g. "NEX Images Thread" and "ROKKOR Normal-ish Image Thread"?

Sure, it's perfectly fine to cross-post as long as you do it in a way that makes sense -- posting shots from the Rokkor used on a NEX in both threads you mention does make sense.

Nice shot of the dog. Good impact.

no question, f/1.2 is only for crazy dreamy shots. really like your first one there as well.

+1. Although my top pick would be the last one.

Great light. We dont have that here up north now - when not dark gray, daylight is a dim evening:ish light which I find hard to replicate in a shot. Two Rokkor 58/1.2 on the NEX 5N.

Love the tones in the second one wfrank.

Thanks Lightshow :-). Now, here's a double post from the NEX images thread (sry) from the other day. Rokkor 58/1.2 at this point seemed glued wideopen. My son with a bit more "arty" feel as I see it, luckily his wild hair has been cut now :-)

Your 58/1.2 look to be very sharp wide open.
And I see their prices have gone up again.

haven't been able to get out to shoot with my 58/1.2 much over the holidays, but as promised some "stopped down" shots from around the house. in this case that means f/2.

Having used the NEX 5N for a while I today remembered how good the 5D2 is. Mirror snags and things like that are secondary, the handling is just great.

Gathering launch pad evidence from yesterdays fiesting. And a chance to enjoy (or hate :-) the swirly bokeh of the Rokkor 58 at F/1.2.

Yet more evidence of this immoral behavior

EDIT: some at the afterpartying captured on camera. Not supersharp but focal plane is ok, so perhaps it's party-moves :-) The vignetting in the lower frame is a result of the mirror hang which occurs above 5m, not PP. Plan to grind the top part of the holding ring at the back element for that, as I can see where it hits. Still Canon 5D2 and Rokkor 58/1.2.

This is a test photo that somebody took of me but why is the bokeh cutting into my face?

spherical aberration i'd imagine? i see that a lot on f/1.2 lenses.

some swirls from the 58/1.2 on aps-c (i think i posted the f/2 swirlless version of this earlier):
