Ok, alt family I have a problem. Can anybody tell me what this is? I just noticed it on my lense.

JLH_9516 by crazeazn, on Flickr

near the LTA in MINOLTA, it looks like a smudged finger/print / speckling. I dont own a macro lense so its a bit difficult to assess what it is. I did not see it after JimB. did the conversion so I'm assuming its recent. How can i fix it??! before it may/may not get worse?

here is the 100% shot

What ever it is, it doesn't look good, the front element comes out real easy(inner most ring), then clean it off ASAP.

Its hard to tell from this picture. Shoot some more closeups and post them. Its hard to tell which element this is. It could be moisture, mold or maybe lens elements are separating? Lens element separation is bad. Mold is not great either, but you can clean it. I would get it looked at by a pro...

It looks like it's on the inside of the first element, which is accessible by unscrewing the inner most retaining ring, sometimes you can get lucky and unscrew it with little effort, you might need a spanner if it's tight.

Protect the front element at all costs.
If you've never done this before, it's not the best lens to learn on. my advise would be to seek help.

A similar issue on MFlenses.

ahh i took it apart easily enough but there is another filter ring I cant get off which combines the first three elements from the top. Will have to order a filter spanner!

also re-referencing this pbase file which has a rokkor 58 1.2 teardown in case anybody in the future has a similar problem. (I saw this on FM before but I can't seem to find it)

Welcome to the alt life.

"Micro tools" make some, Amazon & eBay are typical sources. Don't buy a cheap one if you plan to use it more than once, changeable tips are very handy.

prosep, is 2nd one showing some yellowing of the elements - radioactive copy of the lens, or just done in post?

It is most probably due to improper white balance which could be corrected in PP.

Duplicate post, deleted. Sorry for this.

Is there anyway to delete duplicate post?
