Very nice!

Don't you think that the Rokkors and the Takumars share a lot or properties in common? The more I see and use these two lens sets the more I see similarities between them.

I don't really agree since my Super 55/1.8 and Rokkor 58/1.2 do not reproduce colour the same way. Having said that, I need to test both on FF..

First shots on the newly acquired 5D:

Both WO (wow...FF DOF is thick!!..)

Who is Kenji Okamura? He's listed as The Photographer in the EXIF of your posted images.

And yeah, color is a little different between the Taks and the Rokkors... But that's somewhat relative IMO. Even two of the same model Taks can render colors differently - the Rokkors too. I mostly just meant sharpness and bokeh - which pervades well across all the versions of normal-ish Taks and Rokkors and to the extent that it can be more objectively analyzed. The local contrast, micro contrast, sharpness, color contrast, and most of the attributes describing bokeh seem extremely similar between Taks and Rokkors to me - and not just at "normal" lengths either. The 135's and 200's too.

That may be whom he bought the camera from.

That's right. Noticed that only today after I processed the shots.
And stop poking around my EXIFs...

Bokeh is also rather different (comparing the two I mentioned). I haven't had a chance to get a 50/1.4 yet.
In some way I find Rokkor's bokeh rendition similar to my preset 135/3.5 takumar which is not fantastically sharp btw.

it seems to me that both pentax and minolta made an effort to provide a more pleasing bokeh for their normal lenses while canon and nikon did not during this time period.

krosavcheg - congrats on the new camera!

I'd take a bit less sharpness for good OOF area, focus transition and the pastel color rendering; that seems to be a bit more common among non-CaNikon glass.

Thanks Luka. Your and other photos here inspired me to take a second look at this lens 58mm f1.2 and learn to use it. It's definitely worth it. Half of my photos in this trip were taken with this lens!

MD Rokkor 1.2/50 @f1.2 looks more like a 2.8/135mm shoot

Thanks Sebboh. Luka's and your photos made me sit up and learn to use this lens. More than 1/2 of my photos in this trip were taken with this Rokkor lens. That says something since my bag has other very good Leicas too. But this lens has that painterly look which suits very well for the scenes.
