First, I traced the filter ring on the diffusion material. Then I scored it with a razor knife ( aka box knife ). Next, I snipped away the outer parts with a pair of wire snips. I smoothed the edges and shaped the disk with a dremel tool until it fit the ring. You could probably use a file of some sort to do this but a dremel tool is fast and easy. Hope this helps.

Clif,
Thanks for the information. This may be the route I'll take. I also might try a jig saw. I have a 2x4' sheet of the stuff, so I have plenty to play with.
OK, I've just finished my new lexan hickspodisc filter for cokin P.
I've got pics of the entire builod, but the thing LOOKS sweet, I hope it works as well. I used 1/8" lexan + 3m filter material + clear diffuser material.
my question is: I think i'm losing too much light. should I expose normally (no matter how ling it takes)? or should I underexpose? I'm assuming that if I underexposed, that would change the white balance (although i don't think that it should, theoretically).
I actually built it to use with my IR filter to take some IR pics. We'll see how it all works, if it works, i'll post some pics and the pics of the build!
