Ron, thanks for your comments. I think your last set is the best one. Composition is perfect and the color contrast with the orangy brick is very nice.

Thanks for the comparison Edward - much appreciated! I think that I will also try out some different codes but it looks like the 28/2.8 non-asph would be a good starting point.

The 28mm profiles are like some kind of magic fix, they seem to work well for a lot of lenses including the CV 15/4.5.

Interesting. I'll have to give that a try. In previous testing I found the 21/2.8 non-ASPH seemed like a great all-rounder with many UWAs and the last time I went through this, with the CV21/1.8, also noticed that a couple of the 28mm profiles were very good. The biggest hassle of this is the incorrect focal length reporting in EXIF..

Here's one from the Cherry Beach area of Toronto. While wandering the area, it was inundated by blowing Cottonwood seeds, but I didn't have a great deal of luck translating the effect into photos...

Thank you Gary and Ron! In fact the 21/2.8 profile is really excellent. There is a very slight reddish cast that you can see clearly in the black net on the left side of the frame. It must be easily correctable. But the 28/2.8 11809 profile is equally as good with neutral color.
Very nice shot Ron. Good depth and slightly low key. I think you would have needed more backlighting to emphasize the cotton seeds.

Thanks Edward. I think this is a situation where I could have benefitted from a longer lens to get more compression and increase the effect of the seeds in the air. Shooting more backlit in this situation resulted in blown out sky in more of the scene. Looking at the images on the camera I was a bit concerned because they looked pretty high contrast, but was able to smooth things out in post. Been leaning a bit more that way lately - gentler rendering, at least with people photos, not for the stuff below.
A few more of twisted rebar and concrete... I guess it's not everyone's fancy, but this kind of scene is eye candy for me, trying to sort out reasonable compositions from the chaos...

Katie - I can feel the heat and humidity in your images with the kids.
Gary - "The Chosen One" is my pick of the B/W landscapes.
I have been working on finding a color processing for the M that I like.
I have a few from the gritty Art District, Chinatown and Echo Park.
While looking for something interesting in the Art District, found this scene.
Take a photo with what you have handy
Love Chinatown because of the colors and decaying structures
A couple of young ladies asking me to take their picture with my old camera
Feel of old LA

Wow, been such a long while since I've posted or even visited FM forums. A community that I'd visit many times a day. Just been bogged down with unfriendly deadlines (they never are), travel, health,etc. (a bit of laziness on those rare off times as well where I caught up on sleep). After Rajasthan in January, I got out with the camera just the end of last month.
Anyway, all's good now and back to processing and posting photos.. All that work did involve some nice travel. Here are some from Brande, Denmark.
All with the 35 Summaron. It does take a lot of effort to get back behind the camera after a long break.
Sorry for not commenting on all photos. There's probably 50 pages of it.

This works really well, and you have a lot of control. I regularly print A2 size images and it is lots of fun having the print version!!

Salvador, very nice set and I think the colors are look very good. Sometimes it's better to have attractive rather than accurate color balance.
Manoj, nice play on composition and color. Last shot is my favorite!
