Great shots Chuckles84 and welcome to this thread from another M8 owner.
I was out shooting this morning in somewhat warmer weather - 25 DegC and up (high 70s F).
You'll like the colour balance more when you fit a UV+IR filter and I recommend also a visual blocker IR-pass filter like the B+W 092, then your M8 becomes an IR camera!

Welcome aboard Chuckles84! I loved my M8 and it is a very nice camera indeed. I resisted using the UV/IR filters for quite a while but ended up spending way too much time in PP getting things "close". They make a big difference.

Fantastic images Gary what do you code the ZM25 as? I am using the 28 f2.8 ASPH 11606 code to avoid colour casts.
A couple more with the Nokton 35/1.4 SC - love the rendering of this lens at 1.4 but not sure if I will keep it long term - prefer the more clinical rendering of the Biogons if anyone is selling their Zeiss Biogon C 35mm 2.8 ZM in black please PM me or wants to exchange!

Thanks for the warm welcome, it is quite cold here in the mid-west US. Weather reports say it will be in the negatives (Fahrenheit) this coming week.
The M8 is actually the first rangefinder I've owned and I'm really liking it! I think I'll pick up that other filter for infrared, that sounds like fun!

Thanks for the likes everyone. I still have to rework the first one though… I took it when it was near dark and I think I tried to make the scene too bright in PP which makes it look a little muddy and off colour...
Nicoimages - I "think" mine is coded as the same. Maybe Cal can answer…. I have noticed in these brighter snow scenes a bit of color cast on the edges. On non-snow scenes, I have not noticed it much at all. Super lens though and I really like it.

Your ZM25 is coded as a Elmarit-M 24/2.8. I've heard that the 28/2.8 may be a bit better, but you would have to enter the lens code manually...you can't code the mount since the Milch replacement mount brings up the 24/35 framelines.

Nicholas, love those shots with the CV 35/1.4 SC. A very nice compact lens with classical rendering, very different from the ZM35C, I'll keep both if I were you.

I have still been testing the A7r and the camera, is excellent! I did have my reservations, but now I am convinced it is strong companion to my M240. In some cases with the extended DR and later sensor, I am preferring some of my M lenses on the A7r instead of the M240. Interesting times ahead!

Thanks Gary! The lenses that are working well on the A7r are the FE 55/1.8, 50 Cron Rigid DR, 50 Nocti f/1.0, 35 Lux FLE(Excellent), FE35/2.8, 24 Lux, 75 Lux. I do know some people are preferring the A7, but the A7r files and DR, are quite amazing. I have not tested the 21 SEM yet, and the 50 Lux does not work well IMO. I am really liking the 35 Lux FLE on the A7r. For now I have more than enough for a travel kit
Other lenses I have tested too, are the 75 Cron AA, and 90 Cron AA. Both are great without issues. Only real issue I have with the A7r is the shutter lag, and the brightness of the EVF with manual lenses in bright ambient lighting.

Well, my 1937 Carl Zeiss Jena 5cm f/1.5 Sonnar is back from a minor repair and fitted with a new B+W multicoated orange filter. I just LOVE this lens. The rural shots taken about 4:30 PM today (time is wrong in EXIF) on my way back from Los Angeles to Bakersfield. The gas pump was today at about noon in Bakersfield, but could have been almost anywhere in America.

Sort of makes me wonder why we fret over all the new bells and whistles. Fact is, a good photographer could make art with mason jar glass. Yet, we worry about the latest and greatest. Of course, people do say the MM responds well to older glass. Maybe that's because BW was all we had when most of this glass was engineered. Who knows.

Thanks for the likes guys. I had a bit of a frustrating day yesterday. I first wondered if I had much of anything from my afternoon shooting, then I did manage to find a bright spot or two. Even if I did manage to shoot JPG accidentally on my MM. I have it set properly for next time though...
There wasn't much more good shots than these two, that's for sure. lol. Hey, like Ansel Adams said, If I have a dozen good photos a year, it's been a good year. Translation, if I have 1 good photo every trip out, it's been a great trip-

Asiafish, superb images!!! The tonality in #1 and 3 are amazing I feel with older lenses, that the detail is not lost in the shadows, and gives this wonderful glow.

Charles, the 75 Cron seems to be stuck on my MM. So I guess I will just have to accept it, and shoot it. I might even tack weld it to the body... You don't think that would void my warranty, would it?
