Joe - great product shot! I can most certainly tell that you spent $15 more than I did on your macro lens. PS - is there a serial number range for the 35cron 8 element?
Joe, yes great product shot! I love the older Olympus lenses. All my lenses I usually send in for a quick CLA, few day turn around.
Gary, I see we may competition looking a similar 35 Cron 8 element
I had been shopping for mine for over a year before I found one which I liked
From E.Puts Leica Compendium, serial # runs from 1630501 with approx 22,500 lens produced. The book doesn't say when serial # ends but version 2 starts at 2307451. Production started in Midlands and was transferred to Weztlar later on. Mine is a 219xxx serial. I don't know which serials are best but collectors seem to prefer the later Wetzlar version, so the Canadian Midland ones could be a better buy as a shooter lens. From speaking to a Leica repair specialist, it doesn't really matter if it was Canadian or German but quite a few copies of these lenses have less than ideal performance due to the complexity of aligning all 8 elements. So its best to buy from someone reputable or look for a good return policy. I think pricing varies but is quite stable at $2500 to $3200 for an excellent copy of the non goggled version, otherwise I have seen some in the low $2ks recently which were really nice mechanically. Rarely can find one under $2k lately.
Edit: see Michael's response below on Midlands vs Weztlar
Joe, As far as last time I remembered, in Japanese magazine seems Canadian version get higher score than German one. Legend saids the Glass type changed to worse later I for sure can see there is coating difference between German one and Canadian one. German: amber Canadian: light blue. Other than that, I don't see much difference.
FYI only
Congratulation for a fine lens.

hehe Michael, at one point you had two of them right? Can you try it out on your A7R and see if it smears on the corners?
Will do! for both you and Derek. Corner could be problem before f8. The lens is very consistent though. You can almost shoot it by focus scale. crop to 4X5, you got a a great MF simulated system for Landscape. still 32M?

75 lux pretty hard to come by, aren't they? Ok, I see about what it takes... about 4 grand now, lol.
I'll keep my 75 APO Cron ASPH I think... :-)
Nice shots Mike, looks like a good lens.
They're definitely hard to find and quite pricey when you do - looks like they're going for $4-6k on the 'bay, although I think I saw one on here for a bit less than $4k.
That said, I managed to snag mine for maybe just a few lattes more than a used version of your 75 Cron
Why does this surfer have a wind kite attached to him? Just curious. I have never seen that before.
So, you are talking about an Olympus Electronic Viewfinder called a VF2 Phil? Trying to catch up with what all you guys talk about here...
Well, a nice deal indeed on the Lux Mike. I thought about it before I came across my Cron. But when I saw a basically new 75 APO Cron for around 25% off, I was all over that. Love the lens, love the lens. No regrets at all.
Guys sorry I've been busy.. Some really nice images!
Fursan - I really like the bakery shot with the old man walking.
Joe - How's the bokeh on the 35cron V1?
Charles and atwl77 - I thought it was strange as well.. Im going to do some tripod testing to figure out if everything has fallen out of alignment (frame wise) after the focus alignment was performed, or if it's just the 50APO (maybe then I'll know if it's a cam issue?! If that's even possible).
Great photos guys! Nice to see this thread steadily moving forward with both high quality photos from new contributors and old-timers.
I attended a street photography workshop this weekend here in Stockholm with Eric Kim. This was a great learning experience and hopefully for me a starting point for diving deeper into this genre.
Here is the photo I was most happy with from this weekend, a portrait taken at a christmas market.

the gang hits the mean streets with nothing but trouble on their mind
the smallest of the gang, woodsy, carries his trusty bush/stick with him for protection
finding a street post to pose on, they practice their fiercest gang pose
after smashing a local store window, woodsy, the smallest gang member, makes a run for it through the alley
pondering what a school education would be like, the street kids can only watch the "smart kids" on the bus pass them by, as they live their gang life on the mean streets
