Very nice Douglas. You mentioned to me earlier that you found this lens rendering a bit flat, but it looks quite good to my eyes. Have you had the chance to compare it with the Planar?
Thanks, Edward. I don't actually have the Planar in my possession, yet, so I'm not sure. There more I shoot this Summicron, though, the more convinced that I am by it. Apparently, the ZM has a more modern multicoating, so it will probably be a bit better at flare suppression and have a little more contrast, but I'm warming to the Summicron, and the build is fantastic comparatively (I've owned several ZMs in the past, so I know their build well.)
On the other hand, the 28 Elmarit ASPH has a more modern, green hued multicoating than my 50 Summicron, and it is much more contrasty and contemporary looking. I'm betting it'll actually be a good match to the ZM Planar. It is also likely a better match to the new 50 Summicron ASPH, which is way out of my budget. I don't have any good shots with the 28 yet, though.
I ordered a collapsible 50 Summicron, too. My gut is telling me that I may end up with the collapsible and the Planar as my two 50s with very different vibes, but this newer Summicron may be too hard to give up. It could be the perfect balance between the two.
p.s. the above shot was at F8, if I recall correctly.
Andrew, thanks for the tips in conserving energy Superb series of shots!!
Luka, excellent set and PP'ing
Michael, great series! Love the lighting and composition

LL. the whole Set is nice but my favorite is first one. Like that perspective.

A shot from yesterday:
Sunflower with 50cron Rigid.
Now continue on Suzhou:
A tea place in ZhuoZheng Garden:
That was a weekday, the world seems stopping there, sometimes, I really envy a life like this
One guy in white cloth is a singer in the tea place. They perform Suzhou Pingtan (A local traditional song type). I highly recommend you guys give that a listen if you were there. (I almost have zero interest before, but now I start appreciate its beauty, age??) Though you have to pay depend on the difficulty and length of the song.

Douglas, I can see in the second set the typical "older" Leica look, compared to the "modern" Leica look in Dan's shots
Yeah, it's tough to say, with the different light and likely different processing techniques. I keep remembering Jeff Kott's comparison of the Summicron and Planar on NEX, link here, which shows VERY subtle differences in color, but they're pretty darn similar.
Really, the only gotcha of the Summicron is its potential for flare, and I'll likely be choosing between it and the Planar based on handling, flare, etc.
BTW, I'm impressed at what an "ISO-less" camera the M9 is, like some EXMOR cameras and MFDBs. I did an experiment the other day, comparing an ISO 1250 file to an ISO 160 file pushed 3 stops in LR4 (using the same shutter and aperture,) and they essentially look identical.

I was beginning to notice this, but didn't do any comparisons. Basically I can leave the camera at iso 160 at all times and adjust in post. Cool!
Excellent shots past few pages. I haven't had time to shoot the M9 lately.
Andrew Gough, those bird market shots are excellent.
Edward, looks like you're having fun with the M9. Excellent street shots. Keep sharing those ZMP50 shots, looks like a really nice 50mm lens.
Bruno, the shadow and light color set is excellent!
Marcsery, very nice rendering on those Notci shots!
deang001, looks like you are still having fun with the 50Lux! Very nice set.
Luka, good to see you still shooting the M9 once a while. Excellent shots as always! Those 28Cron shots on the second set are gorgeous.
Michael, welcome back from your vacation. Excellent B&W shots!
Gary, excellent 50Cron snow set!
Lovinglife, I like the dark treatment to those B&W NYC shots.
Douglas, excellent shots with the 50CronV. I like the film like pp to those very much.
Dan, excellent shots, what was that man doing in the first shot?
Ash, very nice B& white set!
Nate, sorry to hear about your job loss. Hope things work out well for you and GLWS on the Nocti... ! Hope to see you shooting and posting again soon.
Joe, you are right, it is 35cron V1. I don't find its rendering/bokeh special, although in this case, it looks good for simple background it is a good tool though, to get the job done for the size, I also like 50mm frame with it, as I like compose thinking outside of box of rangefinder.
