I had good play with the new M today. The EVF is super, both it an the screen are zoom able. Focus peaking is available too. I set it nex to my m9 and they are the same size. The R moubt is a non electronic mount. Weight of the m is the same and the menu structure has been significantly improved. They would not let me put an SD into the cam so no pics... Once I get home I'll post pics of the cam.
Joe, you'll just have to wait and see exactly what it was they did to the ME to make it worth giving up the sexy look of a reduced price M9p. Again I think the M10 is the camera for me
BTW, that's some clean looking ISO 10,000
dgenx24 - I never bring a tripod with me, even when I shoot MFD. Suppose that's why I don't do long exposures. Nice shot btw, looking forward to using my 35cron!
wstam - Looks like you go to the same alleyways I do wstam! Take a look above at my post, see if you can identify the street
joakim- Great shot, which version did you have again?
Joe, Marc and dgenx, thank you guys
Joe, great low light work at 10000 ISO. Very nice PP'ing too. I have just received a DVD from Ming Thein on his technique for PP the M-M files, and it is very insightful. I need to re watch it again, as he some great techniques that will apply to the M9 files too.
Dgenx, very nice capture!
wstam, welcome, and nice series of shots
Joakim, very nice B&W capture
Andrew, amazing to be able to handle the M. It is really looks like the photographers camera. Just the fast processor, 3" screen with high ISO was enough for me.
CharlesK, is there a reason the MM would produce better mono than a M9 converted.
I am really enjoying your photography using the MM, the one on page 564 using a red filter is great to me. joanlvh

There are a number of reasons why the M-M, will produce a very detailed and richly toned shot. The sensor is basically bare, and in essence, has amazing ability to purely capture luminescence without any hindrance to overlaying filters. From the PP'ing of the DNG files, they feel more like MF. I only negative with luminescence, is you need to have filters for certain effects. For low light photography, the M-M is wonderful. Even at 10000 ISO, it is very useable, with the fine grained noise structure. Even with the new M that is to be released, I don't think it will have the same ISO performance as the M-M. So the niche for the M-M will be there for awhile

Andrew, were you able to click the shutter and can you comment on the shutter sound of both the new M and the M-E? In the " target="_blank" rel="nofollow">John Dooley video the impression is the M is fairly quiet and does not have the annoying buzzing re-cocking sound of the M9. Does the M-E sound the same as the M9? In Leica's M-E literature, they're stating it's very quiet, but that could just be marketing-speak.
Hi, thanks for the welcome and comments. After spending some times with EVF, I must say it's so "refreshing" looking through the OVF. What's new is the focusing using the RF patch split image. Spent long time trying to make sure I nailed it.
Adam, saw your photos. Not sure if it the same alleyway. This is just behind the camera rental shop. So the first two are my first few shot with M9.
dgenx24, that Zion park shot is excellent, I like the layers on the composition!
wstam, welcome to the thread and 2 very nice sets with the M9. I like the first two shots from the 2nd set best.
Joakim, nice mood to the B&W shot with the 35Lux!
Marcsery, nice shot with the older 50Lux
Bruno, some excellent B&W candid shots.
swopp, nice shot!
Charles, you seem to behaving fun with the color filters? Excellent examples posted recently with the dramatic skies. Also thanks for the info to Ming's site, I do visit that site from time to time and there are some very good reads there, plus he takes nice pictures in my old "backyard", ie Kuala Lumpur. I like his comparison of the D800E and S2, sure gave me some GAS, not for the E but for the S.
