Thanks Joe Definitely looking forward to more of you M-M shots. I am very interested in the work flow, and seeing what is the best technique to get the most from the files)
Luka, I do need to pay attention to the top of your shot, and realize it was the X1. Great shots BTW Very nice example of high ISO shot. I now have been getting some good results with the M9, at 2500 ISO, but this is with latest version of LR4-2 and CS6.

Since we are talking about Leica 35mm lenses.Does any one have any shots with the older 35 f2.8 Summaron? Would really like to see some samples from a digital body.

Jim, I think there were some shots posted by singletrack in this thread. Else you could pm him.
Luka, only an engineer could have though of what you did with the ISO10,000. Seems workable on the M9, only that you probably reduced the M9 to a 9-12Megapixel resolution?
I only had a few minutes to shoot today but the MM is growing on me. Here are some samples of pre and post. The files are really workable, producing some very dense histograms, just like scanned film except that I can shoot 2 to 3 stops faster and the grain is very fine. For some reason LR4 does not output lens aperture setting.
SOOC RAW into LR4, no sharpening
Contrast and structure adjustments with some burning in SEP2
Joe, very nice!! I am only now starting to appreciate having files with full image details that are fully malleable. I am finding this with the 50 Nocti f/1.0. Raw files lack constrast, but every bit of detail is there and it is a just a question of PP'ing.
Joe, you are right about DOF gain of MM. I just read some info about MM from lensrental, looks like with better raw support, resolution gain is significant or shoot JPG.
This is incredible BW machine.
With more and more picture shown up, I doubt how long I can hold my original comment about will not buy one
Charles, excellent shots! Love both of them.
Paul, nice set. I like #1.

Still testing (unscientific) and getting a feel for the high ISO response.
Room was quite dark. Lighted with dim CFLs and faint window light.
Metered with a Sekonic 358 on the camera. Consistent with other reviews, my M Mono underexposes between 1/3 to 2/3 stops when compared to my Sekonic 308s and 358.
ISO 10,000. No adjustments, no NR, no sharpening, exported from LR4.2
I thought Ansel's print would give a good indication on the tonality of the M-Mono at this setting. You can also see some blown highlights on the left page of the book.
200% crop, no adjustments, no NR, no sharpening
200% crop, 25pt NR in LR4.2. No sharpening
I think somewhere between 15pt and 25pt luminance noise reduction in LR4.2 is ideal while still preserving some detail?

Banding test. Same scene, underexposed 3 stops and then pulled back 3 stops in LR4.2 From my NEC PA monitor, I can see banding on both pictures. Not sure if any of you can see it in the downsampled files here?
Joe and Edwin, thank you guys
Paul, I really like the second shot!
Joe, thanks for synopsis with excellent examples!!
Edwin, very nice portraits! I feel M series, should encompass both digital and film IMO.

Thanks Charles. When is yours arriving? Most dealers in the US only received one copy last week but I think more are on the way next month for those that pre-ordered. No 50AA or Nocti planned for now but if they made a 35Cron AA I would be really interested .
I'll be on the watch out for banding when I shoot some more.. but its a nice feeling, having ISO5,000 or 10,000 on a M body was not possible in the past, so this opens up opportunities for night shooting, stopped down or with longer lenses, very interesting. The grain is very fine and natural looking. I'll try some test prints this weekend at higher ISOs but I don't think it will an issue.
I still think the M9 is a very capable camera, especially at lower ISOs. Here's a few M9 shots taken with the CV 35/2.5 recently in P-town. I don't see the need to upgrade to a M10 at all, at least not for me.
Another shot from Bangkok, late in the evening with the 50 Nocti f/1.0 @ f/1.0. Lighting was terrible, but recouped this in SEP II with the blue filter.
Hi guys, been visiting the pages but haven't had time to post any images. Looked back over the last few pages I missed, some really great shots!
Joe Congrats on the MM, Charles you also have the MM now right?! The MM plus f/1 will allow you to explore some pretty dark places, from what I've seen of it's clean high iso.
I picked up a 90APO, since I already had the 75summarit (find the summarit is a good lens, really old fashion bokeh but sharp contrasty infocus subjects, it's good enough to not want the 75cron just yet). 90 isn't as heavy and big as I thought it would be, once I started shooting with it. The 90 is also really sharp when you nail focus, but honestly it's still a struggle to nail focus (even using a 1.25x). Colors are nice, and bokeh is nice, but not as WOW as my 100MPZE was. Will have to shoot with it a lot more to really decide if it's a keeper. No photos (I want to share) with it yet, but I'll post a few below from other lenses.
Still owe everyone images from a recent wedding (bogged down with work, have done tons of stuff since, everything's in a DI queue days long).
just back from 2 weeks in Italy with the M9 and a couple of lenses, we had almost continuous blue sky and harsh sunshine but finally we got some cloud!
here's one almost straight out of the camera with a zeiss 18. No colour correction yet (only got back last night), and the left side of the pic is very slightly tinged with red, but I can fix that...
