The 75 Summicron is a very nice lens. Excellent ergonomically in your hands, MFD of 0.7m, and easy to focus. Another reason why I usually opt for the 75mm's rather the 90 Cron, is that the frame lines seem nicely balanced to what you see, and what is outside of the lines. The 90 FL frame lines seem too small, to compose the shots as easily IMO. Don't get me wrong, I love the 90 Cron AA The 75 Cron/Lux I find make for excellent portrait lenses on the RF. With DSLR's though, I prefer longer, 105 to 135 ideally for portaits....Show more →
Yeah, I was thinking that. I had a 90 before and didn't really like it for that reason exactly.
Yeah and the summicron focuses closer then the summarit, so I guess that's also a plus.
Daniel, nice set with the concert shots.
Charles, ah.. you make we want a 75Lux!.. Great shots! The first 75Lux and the first 50Lux shots are my favorites. Well done.
Paul, nice shot with the 24 Elmarit.

Yes, I'm interested in a M Mono, holding back only because of the cost of it and what may be coming out at Photokina 2012.
What's the Singapore shop called.. The Ramen looks pretty good. I usually go to a shop called Santoka, it's really good, and they have one in LA for all you west side peeps.
This is a pic of their Kyoto station branch. Absolutely delicious Kyushu tonkatsu ramen, if that's your style. Multiple award winner and the lines in NYC branch are sometimes over an hour long
A lot of people in Singapore like Ippudo, I'm not a big fan, I going to guess the Singapore branch is not nearly as good as the one in Japan or NY, happens a lot here with branches/franchises..
Menya Musashi, I'll definitely check it out!
Nice cron photos btw.. I'm leaning towards the 28cron actually, but what to pair it with I still don't know, maybe I'll end up with 3 lenses when all is said and done :P
Thank you Joe Beautiful tonality in your shot of the kitchen, particularly at ISO 1250! The 50 Cron V5 is very nice too. There is a handful of M lenses, that really lend themselves well to B&W conversions, and the 28 Cron, 50 Cron V5 are two of them
I also have my order in for a M-M, which may change yet. With Photokina, even when the M10 most probably will be announced, I think it will not be available until Q1 next year.
Ron, I agree the Konica 60 f/1.2 is a great lens, from the shots I have seen. I don't what it would be like trying to use the 50mm frame lines though.
M10..... Leica should let me build up my lens collection first.
Now I forget though, did I limit myself to two or three lenses
Charles - a lot of portraits of the older men you take would look good shot with the M9M, but I'm still trying to see (based on samples I find throughout the net) if I could justify giving up color, so far, I wouldn't. Especially if the M10 really is around the corner. And I'm not even sure if I'm talking "justify" in a financial situation. I mean, would you really carry a black and white camera + a color camera with you everywhere? That's what I was thinking, if I got the M9M I would probably only take one or the other, then I would kick myself for not having color But the thought of forcing oneself to only use a black and white camera, is kinda neat (which is what lead me to consider the M9M before I bought the M9-p).
I guess what you could do is switch your camera to JPG mode, and monochrome shoot like that on a small trip and don't change it no matter what. If you changed it back to color, then don't buy the M9M, if you don't change it, then maybe the M9M is for you!!
I never heard of that Konica 60 1.2, I'll look it up.

I have an older M9 as a backup, as I no longer have any other gear, so the thought is to trade in this older M9, for the newer M-M. The beauty of the M-M is for the low light shots in the streets and portraits, and almost having the tonality and detail, similar to MF. I love colour, but I have the M9-P which will serve well, until the initial bugs are sorted out with the M10. The chances of needing a backup are minimal, so in many ways better usage of resources! My excuse anyway I think the biggest issue with the M-M, will be the workflow to get the most out of the 14 bit DNG files.
Ron, yes I still have the GRD IV. Actually haven't used it much past few months until my trip to Tokyo when I realized that its pretty useful for macro, detail and snap shots. The B&W files from the GRD is absolutely gorgeous. Apart from the sensor size, its almost the ultimate street camera for me. I'll probably keep it for now.
Yes, I have a M-M on pre-order, but still have the next few months to think over it. Probably keep the M9 as backup and for color and M Mono as the main camera, but it is getting kind of expensive though ... The M9 with the M glass produces some stunning B&W prints, the only limitation is my photography and printing skills and maybe as an excuse, I do lust after the high ISO capability of the M-M.

Excellent set from you! That yellow themed shot and the first building shot with the 28Cron and my favorites on this set. The art group pics are also excellent and nice color pp as always. I see the 75Cron getting some use now?
Wow, Luka , the last three are exceptional.
Ron, Another nice set. Always like your urban shots.
Charles, Very nice set of portrait. I really like the last two from 50lux.
Joe, Thanks for the write up for B&W PP. They are all very nice. The one inside the kitchen is stand out. The last one with school kids also has very good frame and PP
Dan, the first 35lux shot is very nice.
Paul, Very nice lighting and clarity with that two bike shot.
Luka and Michael, thank you guys
Joe, another very nice layered capture! Your B&W conversions are excellent. I think as some people that have been testing the M-M, has mentioned the IQ of the M-M is not really appreciated on the screen, but when properly printed. It was also mentioned that most computer screens are not properly calibrated to view B&W, so it hard to make comparisons without downloading the RAW files and printing themselves ourselves.
Luka, great set! Love the yellow themed shot too, and #5 and 6. Excellent PP'ing as usual
