Ash, did we photograph the same BBQ oven? I was there Thurs night.
I was there on the Friday - I have no idea about the oven, there were so many!. I limited myself to ISO 320 and 640 with the M8 - pretty tough, but still fun. I think I'll try the odd 1250 B+W and see how that goes next time I shoot at night.
I also had a problem with something falling off: the aperture-wheel of the x1 dropped of once, but I was lucky to find it together with the screw in the cloth-back I always have with me for the camera and other stuff, so I could screw it back on. But the second time this happened, the screw was gone, so I have to send it to Leica CS. I still got warranty and they might as well clean it too, as I have been to veeery dusty places. No dust on the sensor, by the way.
Kelly, thank you Nice shots! Fav is the one by the fire place.
Hilmar, very nice series! Amazing detail with 24 Lux. I really like #1 I love how the dogs hang out at the temples.
Armando, nice examples with the CV 75/25.

6 of one, 1/2 dozen of the other. They're both sharper than almost anyone would ever need straight from wide open. On paper the 21 is sharper.
Nicer out of focus areas from the 21, maybe slightly more of a '3D' look from the 18? I haven't done a scientific comparison yet. What I do know is that the 21 is much smaller.
Bad to see the hood fall off your lux! I'm going to look carefully at mine.
Thanks Daniel - appreciate the feedback. The ZM18 is tempting because of price, but the size of the SEM would be very nice... I haven't seen a ZM18 in person yet, but in photos it does seem quite large and as I add gear, I find there is a lot of 'bloat' due to the fast lenses, somewhat taking away from the very compact kit I started off with.
Rumour has it the next lens from Leica will be a 14mm... anyone interested in that?

Ron, so you got your lenses back from Leica? Are they correctly calibrated?
Hi Hilmar, nice set from Thailand! Yes, picked everything up yesterday afternoon and did a quick walk while there was still light. I haven't yet looked at the results closely, but overall it seems better except for the 21 Lux, which I suspect they didn't touch. It still appears to back focus just from looking at images on the camera. Unfortunately I don't think I'll get out for more photos today, but perhaps will get a better idea tomorrow...

Thanks Ron, Charles, Ash
Ron, sorry to see the problem with your lens. Just FYI, most if not all of the Leica lenses have screws (normally at least 3 screws) in front to hold the hood or front ring and I have had problems with my 28Cron loosening and have also heard problems from others. Pulling or removing hood or continual screwing (pun intended) of UV filters may loosen the front ring and/or hood. Especially with external hoods, its wise to be gentle.
Thanks for the heads up Joe - of course, now that you've mentioned this, guess what lens I picked up yesterday... (sorry Carsten - so soon after passing up the offer for yours)
I have a tendency to pull lenses out of the bag by the hood, which no doubt contributed to the hood falling off.
Nice flare test - seemed to handle it pretty well. The first one reminds me of a zombie movie scene...
Kelly, not to worry, these are really nice. I wanted to add, whenever your daughter tells you to put away the camera, that's a sure sign to keep on shooting!
Armanius: nice Houston roses, I can confirm they are not blooming in Kansas City.
Paul: I like this, reminds me of a lazy weekend day.
Ron, Charles: thank you for the kind words.
Joe, Kkcsm, Armanius, Seekuh, Paul, Joakim, nice shots from last few pages.
Here are some from today at lunch time.
This little 90 keep amazing me, very sharp and there is no CA at any light condition. Some test shot will make my MP100 go crazy (not show here), but this Elmarit just did fine with no APO on it
The lens in the X1 is really great, and you know how to take advantage of it Thomas. The portrait (no 4) is a stunner, great job. Looking forward to see more from you in this thread.
zhangyue, nice set. The 90 Elmarit is a great lens!
Thomas, great set of images again! #4 is a stunning capture I really like the mood and feeling in #3 and 5 too.
