Thanks Dan - good to know. Christmas dinner at work has become somewhat of a tradition for the evening production team - our annual potluck with holiday pay Very few freebies in the news industry nowadays, but the company will pay for this shift because the Boxing Day ads generate significant revenue. While the web is the future, print still generates the most revenue. The 'news' for this edition is really just filler between the ads. So how are you coming along with the 21mm Super Elmar...?
Interesting place there in the first image Doug.
Charles, like the first two very much!
Thanks Hilmar. If it wasn't Christmas, and it being in the way, I'd have used a soft box to get her eyes better lit since I do not have a Leica flash. I had a lot of light on for her eyes to be this dark. But I still love the shot. I use a lot of perimeter task lighting with opaque shades, that casts all it's light downward, instead of all around, and these are all on dimmers. It also creates some interesting light lines.
I also shot some with my Nikon D700 to have some shots with better facial lighting
Hope everyone had a good X'mas weekend! Happy Holidays!
Thanks for the comments, ltruong8, Edwin, Charles, Cory, Joakim
Luka, nice vacation pics, especially angles on the 2nd one!
Martin, you are doing a wonderful job with the M8 and 28Cron. Very nice set and pp.
Charles, very nice composition on the first deer shot The 35Lux shots of the kids are excellent. Really nice.
AshNZ, really nice street shot of the mural and person.
Peter, nice work with the SF58. Good technique.
Seekuh, nice portraits.
Ron, congrats on the 21Lux. Nice shots
Daniel, nice musician shots. So do you prefer the 50Lux or the Sonar?
Doug, wow you've moved on to the 24Lux? Congrats! Nice shot of your daughter and pet!
Hilmar and Joe, thank you guys, much appreciated. Hilmar, yes I am fortunate to have the back drop of the rain forests near the ocean beaches
Martin, great shots! Love the abstract compositions
Hilmar, my favourite portrait is still with the 75 Lux, followed closely by the 35 Lux
Very nice Martin, especially #2!
Hi Hilmar, thanks very much. I see, still no snow...
Was visiting friends yesterday and brought along the M9 and a few lenses. Of course mostly used the 21 because it's new... So that's what's below. All are 21 Lux, probably mostly at f/2, except the last one is the 50 Lux.
here's a couple with M9 and (in order) two with the 50 'cron, one with the 35 cron and then one with my 90 tele elmarit from 1970, which is an astonishing lump of glass
My favorite watering hole yielded a gem today... No filters, just glass. White caps tend to overexpose a bit without ND filter. I may have to try handholding ND filters for water. Today, I shot handheld, didn't fool with tri-pod all day. That would be harder to do handheld.
I also liked this one... 24mm lux.FLE ASPH Also provides a nice comparison to next shot with 35mm Cron ASPH
Mike, great shots! Very captivating and interesting
Edwin, nice capture of your familiy
Dustoff, very nice beachscape! Just need to have a level horizon
Doug, my favourite is #12 in your link!
Charles, you caught me while I was posting. For some reason I wasn't logged into Zen. I just added 2 other water shots and made them photos instead of links. But feel free to browse my new portfolio (incorporates all photos to date though)
Edit, I did, and it looks like number 2 above. That shot came out really nice, agreed! I also like the fact it was a new shot for me along the roadway to Cades Cove in Smokies. I don't think I had shot it before at all.
I took the liberty of framing number 2 for display. I did it manually in Photoshop CS5. I have got to get a better framing tool. I am going to talk to NIK about adding Silver Efex 2's framing to their other image programs, it would really be a nice addition.
What to you guys use for framing color prints? I'd like Lightroom compatibility.
