I am looking for a longer lens for my M8 and am not too sure which lenses to consider. I have a limited budget so can't spring for any Leica's at the moment. I would be looking for something equivelant to 85-100mm ish range on the M8. With my Nikon setup I love the rendering and look of the Nikkor 105mm f/2.5 (I think sonnar??). I will not likely use this lens too often but I am looking for a lens well suited for portraits (usually wide open) and the odd landscape work. PS - I like fairly sharp lenses and am not a big fan of that dreamy, soft focus portrait look... Any suggestions would be most appreciated.
Gary, you might consider a 90mm Summicron, older lens. I have the Version 3 of this lens, and it's a pretty nice telephoto. I have not taken a lot with mine yet, but I am keeping it.
It's pretty sharp for non-asph. here is what the lens looks like:
Wow... Long time no chat.
Hope everyone is well... I've lurked around once and a while, when I had a free moment, but I haven't really had time to shoot and upload anything non-client related.
Anyway, I had a quick question about the M9 sensor.. Has anyone seen this issue before?
Image was shot at F16 and if you inspect the sensor you see little dots all over:
Any ideas?
The Singapore Leica techs are in Germany right now for training apparently. So I can't ask them.
Tried to clean it, not coming off, not even streaking like oil would.
And it can't be fungus, as it's not rooting out like fungus would, and I've shined a fungus pen on it, and it didn't change color under the light of the pen-light.
Any other bright ideas? I was thinking that it's glue separation, or oil that's just dried on so much that it cannot be cleaned... I don't want to do any further cleaning, I will let Leica deal with it, I just thought I'd gather some thoughts on here..
Adam, great to see you back It seems very unusual, maybe like an oil based residue with dust. You will not be probably able to clean it yourself, and needs a visit to a camera repair shop that specializes in cleaning sensors!
