I think I'll buy and M9, but I'm a bit worried about focus. I don't want to send everything away. Either I'll keep the 28 and add a 50, or sell it and buy a 35/1.4 as a one and only lens.
I would keep the 28 and get the 50, if these focal lengths can work for you. The 35 Lux ASPH is a very good lens, but the 50 Lux ASPH is noticeably better. I like the other 35s and 50s less than either of these two.

I just tried an M9 in a local store, and the 28 focused perfectly. The next "small" problem is that if I order a 50, I'll get it in two years!
If you're not limiting yourself of buying them new, you could get them pretty quickly...
I bought M9, Cron 28, Lux 50 ASPH, and 75AA in about 2 weeks....

Martin, glad you are enjoying the M8. Just put your name down at a few dealers wait list for the 50Lux or search the forums, I'm sure you'll get one in less than 2 years.
Steve, can I try your 50 0.95 some day? Nice B&W with the Nocti.

The Cron is fantastic, but very different from the ZF lenses I'm used to. It's not particularly sharp wide open, but the global contrast and colors are there all the time.
Hmm, then there's something wrong - missed focus, motion blur or something worse. I know you are familiar with the 35/2 ZF. Well, this is how it compares at f/2 to the 28 Cron (Red=Cron):
As you can see it is significantly sharper. Even if we stop down the 35/2 ZF to f/5.6, the center sharpness of the 28 Cron wide open is higher:
Or if you want a practical example:
100% crop:
The point being, if the center @f/2 of your cron is anything but ridiculously sharp then there is something wrong...
One thing that really stands out with the 28 Summicron is that it is razorsharp, even at f2 and focused on distant subjects. It was just as sharp at f2 as the ZM25 at f2.8, perhaps even better in the center. I might even go as far as to say that it is probably as sharp at f2/2.8 as the ZM25 is at f4. Sharpness is not an issue with either lens, but that kind of performance at f2 on a 28mm lens is impeccable.

Good luck with that in Sweden! The market here is very limited and I don't want to use Ebay.

Then there's probably something wrong, as usual. I find it very sharp at close distances, but not at ~10 meters and beyond. Good enough for anything, though. This is also an old one, without coding and stuff.
lovinglife:
I had them both, yes, and for two-three weeks I had them at the same time. I actually went for the 25 over the 28 as I preferred the drawing of the 25 and had little use for f2 myself.
Most people prefer the 28/2 over practically any other M wide angle lens.
Both are great lenses.
Makten, when I think about it I can't really vouch for f2 and subjects more than 10m away.
Most of my images at f2 were below 10m. I would be surprised if it was anything but great though. Det är säkert fel på den, bara skicka gluggen till mig, jag bjuder på en kaffe med bulle så är det jämnt så, inte tveka nu.
PS
I saw a Summilux 50 not too long ago, I think there was one on Bl*cket and perhaps another one on Fotosidan. There is still a 50/1.4 on Bl*cket. A 50/2 is always quite easy to find.
Send it in, Martin. You will be happy when it (eventually) returns. Might as well get it coded at the same time. You'll save money on the disassembly/reassembly only being necessary one time.
I'm not sending anything anywhere. It's good enough, at least for now.
Here's one from a few hours ago. Wide open of course, since it's pitch black outside.

Hmm, not easy to find an image at a high shutter speed (to eliminate camera shake as a source of blur) shot at f/2 and infinity. At that point I stop the lens down.
However, I did find one shot that seems to satisfy the criteria:
100% Crop:
You can see a bit of moiré patterns which means that the lens resolves more than the sensor can handle.
Love the tape on the pavement shot by the way! Great colors and composition
Doug and Joe, thanks Joe, great to see you around!!
KL, very nice set of street captures!
Paul, love the simple composition of the shot
Steve, love the expression on the lady in #1!
Martin, excellent abstract shot!! The 28 Cron at f/2.0, is beautifully sharp at all distances. Having had the ZM 25/2.8, I prefer the 28 Cron, even at f/2.0, for sharpness, but more importantly, the subtlety in colour rendition.
Having tested the 28 Cron on a your new potential M9 () would suggest a mid to far cal issue with your M8.
There are a lot more copies of the 50 Lux Asph now, whether new or second hand. Just put your name down. I know in Australia, the wait has been in some instances only about 2 weeks for a new 50 Lux!

SKumar, there are many distributors here in Oz. When I was searching for the 21 SEM, I put my name down, with WA, SA, Vic and Qld distributors, and found a lot them calling up, with other lenses that arrived, 18 SEM, 21 Lux/Elmarit, 24 Lux and 50 Lux's. My understanding there are still the 18 SEM and 21 Lux/Elmarit available in WA. It pays to follow up as the distributors themselves are not fully aware of the stock that is arriving
