Ron, nice shots #3 and #4. I didn't 'literally' mean shoot from the hip, but more like preset and shoot. #4 reminds of me the Macbeth color checker, which I see day in and day out.
Ron, very nice set! Love the backdrop of the windows and lighting I have tried the above setting for hue and sat, in many different shots now, and it really works well, even with evening seascape shots.
Great shots everyone. Sorry I've been busy lately.
KL, excellent set from Singapore! Love the soccer shot!
Ajay, congrats on your super lens! Hope you still like it? You're making good use of it, nice shots!
Ryan, nice sets with the 50Lux. I hope you don't regret selling that 35Lux!
Charles, the colors look nice on those portraits.
Ron, that first ZM50 shot is excellent! Can't wait to see you test the 90 Summarit.
Here's one just to catch up. MFA Boston, new wing. 35Lux ASPH
Ron, really neat shot! I don't we are losing steam, just we now out taking shots with the M9, rather than figuring out how to use it
Joe, excellent shots. Love these compositions!! The adjustments I listed before work really well, and I now keep them as a default setting in ACR/CS5.
Nice ones Joe! Thanks Charles. Yes, always good to be out with the camera than sitting in front of a computer...
I was asked to lead a photo walk by the photo club at the university here in town. It rained pretty much the whole time, but a dedicated group still showed up, and as we all know, rain doesn't mean you can't still make good photos. Most of the participants were pretty new to photography. A few had never even used an SLR before, so it was interesting having to explain the purpose of the viewfinder and why one should use it instead of the display on the back of the camera. And there was even one film user, using his dad's Minolta SRT101! It was fun, and I ended up turning my lens on some of the participants because they happened to wander into decent compositions.
First off, a couple of the group:
And I particularly liked this environment (as close as I could come to columns )
All M9 & ZM21. The camera got a bit wet, but never soaked... held up ok, as it should.
Ron, another excellent set. Those pics with the girl and the pink umbrella are classic, especially #2 and 4! Love them! No disrespect, but I think you ought to let someone else teach them the basics, your time should be better used to teach advanced amateurs (or even some pros) composition and pp! .. and I think you should reveal the face of the lady with the pink umbrella
KL, you're working magic with the 90Cron. First soccer, now F1 You're definitely a Leicaphile
Ron, another great set!! Excellent composition and PP'ing. Love these shots. Joe is right, you need to be teaching advanced and pros
KL, great capture!!! Even with the 90 Cron too
Thanks guys. Joe, I think I only have photos of her hidden by the umbrella It was fun and good to get out and just shoot with some others, whether their just beginners or not. The club prez is the one teaching all the basic theory stuff. They asked me to do a presentation, but I suggested a photo walk instead. That way everyone could get out and do some photos instead of sitting around and I ended up with some good ones too, so definitely worthwhile in that respect.
Today I discovered what looked like an illegal dump on some undeveloped industrial parkland during a break from a job. Here are a few of the CV35 f/1.2 version II. The one of the wood pallets was at f/2.8, the others between f/8-11 (I tend to shoot stopped down a fair amount usually, despite the onset of some softness from diffraction). What you can't really see in this 2.8 shot, and that I noticed in other images of the same scene, was that at f/2.8 the lens appears to be razor sharp edge to edge, where there are strands of spider's silk that are clearly defined. I also just got a ND for it to allow shooting wide open in full sun, but opted against using it today. Anyway, these are straight from the camera (unusual for me). Perhaps not quite the snap of the ZM50, but pretty good IMO.
Here are a few more with the CV35f/1.2II, shot at f/1.4, f/2 and f/2.8. I am not 100% sure the first one was at 1.4... it might have been at 1.2, but am leaning towards 1.4. These were run through LR, but I think I was pretty gentle with the PP on these.
I've been browsing quickly through the many pages I've missed and there are some really fantastic photos here!
But guys, what's up with the CV35/1.2 II idolatry? I mean we're talking about heresy of biblical proportions - something along the lines of Moses taking a short trip into the mountains and the people immediately getting into golden calf worship
Anyway, I'm back, somewhat shell shocked by the cold weather here in Sweden. I've got some pictures but I have not started processing them yet. Here's one though with a bit of "end of summer" symbolism:
