Not the best way to compare, but for those interested, here's another quick n dirty comparison between the ZM50P and the 50/2 Summicron-M. No tripod, but, same ISO, shutter speed, fully open aperture. No processing. Just DNG -> JPEG conversion in Lightroom.
If you want to download the full sized JPEGs to compare on your monitor at full res, download this file. -1 is for the Zeiss, -2 is for the Leica:
Dierk - very nice portraits...great conversions as well
Joe - very nice landscape shot...did you feel the urge to put it in B/W? I literally have hundreds of pics on my computer waiting for me to process but I will say the 90 Summarit is exactly what I was looking for. It is sharp enough (don't take that as being 'not sharp') and the bokeh is far better than what you get with the 90 Elmarit-M. The size is absolutely perfect and what you would expect from a compact system. It is smaller/lighter than my 50 Lux!
Joakim - nice set from the boat.
Ron - what a great set of pics you threw up here! My favorites are from the Newark Airport and #1 is by far my favorite, very nice. See my comments above for the 90 Summarit
I can't help but show it...my daughter loves nothing more than to dress up in princess outfits, wedding dresses, etc. I took her to breakfast a couple of weekends ago and she wanted to take her dress....I told her only if I could get pics in front of the old abandoned hospital on the steps
Thanks Ryan. That's a fabulous set and an awesome location! It's great your daughter is agreeable to such photos. Hopefully she has a lot of fun dressing up and posing for the camera. It sure seems like it.
najibs - thanks for the comparison. It looks to me as though the Zeiss has a little bit more contrast.
Joakim, nice captures from your trip to the village. I think you should consider a 28Cron at some point
LL, nice clear view of downtown Chicago.
Ron, another excellent train and NYC set! 1, 5 & 7 are my favorites from the train set. Really cool composition on #1 and I also like the composition on #5 where the last girl in pink leads the eye up to the elevator and the kid looking to the left. Nice catch on the gentlemen with the cameras. Now I know who Mr Mendes is
Ryan, nice pano of Hilton Head and more priceless shots of your daughter! I haven't though about B&W yet The light at Acadia during sunrise and sunset is really beautiful and I was in color mode all the time. I shot some film as well, waiting for the NCPS scans.

Joe, beautiful sunset sea scenery, any filters?
Nope, I did add contrast, fill light and clarity to it

Glad that the 90 Summarit is at least 'OK'
I think all of the Summarit lenses are a great value and really underrated. I am definitely keeping my 90 Summarit and holding off a 90Cron AA for now.
edit: Here's a Mount Cadillac picture in B&W for Ryan. 28Cron
Ron, fantastic street shots!! Last set very nice too.
Ryan, absolutely beautiful shots of your daughter! Great to be able to share your passion Very nice pano too!
Joe, great B&W shot from Mount Cadillac Very nice composition and love how the clouds are rolling in
Ron - the colors you get are fantastic! I have a 35 C Biogon in my possession and should have some shots to post in a few days (as soon as I get to processing). From what I have seen...the lens is truly excellent
Joe - very nice shot from Mount Cadillac. Love the conversion
Thanks Ryan Love the rendering on your 35Lux set. Are you keeping the lens?
Charles, another very nice set from the beach, love the 2nd shot with the surfers and the clouds. PP is also excellent! Silver-ish understated tones to these recent images with subtle blues.. kind of reminds me of BMW
Thanks Joe. Beautiful shot with the Cron. Excellent colors and comp
As far as keeping the lens...I decided to save a few thousand and go in a different direction (I want the bike ). I took delivery of the new Voigtlander Nokton 35 f/1.2 II and I can positively say I like it better than the 35 Lux ASPH. The Nokton at f/1.2 is SHARPER than the Lux ASPH at f/1.4. No focus shift. Only deterrent - size. CA and flare control are unbelievable on this lens as well. I always liked the bokeh of the Nokton better but it wasn't sharp and the contrast was very low...which is not my style. The new version greatly increases contrast and the sharpness....well....see below. The pics below were NOT adjusted in post
I told her to model for a flare test...she didn't get it . Sun is pointing right at the lens over her left shoulder. CA is as good if not better controlled than the 35 Lux. Flare control is excellent considering f/1.2
This time I told her forget the flare test, lets see those eyes...she got excited. Well, me too . Shot taken at f/1.2
100% crop - NO ADJUSTMENTS
Now, I told her I was stopping down to f/2 to see how sharp it is there. Once again, she is quite happy with the results
100% crop
I can say that for sure from f/2 - f/5.6 the Nokton is way sharper than the Lux ASPH. No focus shift. The Nokton at f/1.2 is the same sharpness wise as the Lux ASPH at f/1.4...which is a great feat. Here are some boring test shots I did for flare, etc
f/6.7
f/4.8
And an f/8 shot at infinity to see if its decently sharp
100% crop
I have also been playing with a 35 C Biogon and that lens is also fantastic. I was thinking I would have a C Biogon for landscape type and the 35 Nokton for wide open purposes. I don't know if its really necessary as the Nokton is really that good. As known though, the size of the Nokton is the big minus on the lens. It is only slightly smaller than the first version. The size difference will definitely make me keep the C Biogon
Ryan and Joe, thank guys, much appreciated
Joe, beautiful shot! Love the 28 Cron
Ryan, congrats on the CV 35/1.2 II. Great lens, and really fast for low light too Looking to many more shots!
Ryan, wow, you read my mind! Someone else in one of the NEX threads also got the new CV 35 f/1.2 but hasn't yet posted anything with it... and today I noticed on Jeff Hapeman's Flickr that he too has a copy and will do a blog post... so I was really happy to see your samples just now. The lens looks like a winner - I'm so happy Cosina didn't screw it up, though a bit unhappy that it's even more expensive. But if it delivers what you've stated, and I have no reason to doubt you (the samples look really good), then it's a bargain compared to the price of the 35 Lux ASPH. I guess we don't have to hope for Zeiss to produce a ZM 35 f/1.4 now.
Have you already sold the 35 Lux, or do you plan to do a mini shootout between the two, just for kicks? It might be quite informative for many of us here.
I will certainly add the new CV 35 f/1.2 and you raise an interesting point about the ZM35C... It really is a great little lens and wonderful as a walk around, so I don't foresee selling mine either.
Charles - great beach set and really like 1 &2.
Joe - fabulous! I love the different looks you've gotten from this scene. Each has been really enjoyable.
What's funny is I was banned from RFF for pointing out the obvious with that lens. Gandy is ripping everyone off. The lens costs the exact same price in Japan that the V1 did. He is charging more than the exchange rate difference and blaming it on the weak dollar. What a looser.
