Robert (Bijltje), very nice set, I really like #3 a lot!
Dierk, also very nice as usual and the last one of the second set on this page is my favourite.
najibs, looks like you're having fun and experimenting with a number of lenses. I do see a difference between the ZM and the Leica, though the light also changed between the shots..
Gregory - very moody.
Charles, very nice work along the beach! I particularly like the feel of the third and fourth of the set on the previous page.
Luka - very cool images and a great location. I really like the contrast of colour in the two 'Medusa' images combined with the selective focus.
joakim - sounds like you were able to recover the images, which is encouraging. Hopefully it's not a problem with the camera. Lovely tonality and composition in those two B&W images!
So I was in the NYC area on Sunday and Monday. The weather was terrible on Sunday, but that's OK, since that was during 'work' at a football game. Yesterday was beautiful and I was able to spend about 4 hours in Manhattan. I found a FedEx depot when I arrived in order to ship out the previous day's images, made myself comfortable on a ledge in front of a Starbuck's and this happened:
Kids sure do some cute things. I guess she was watching her reflection in the window, oblivious to the small audience, who were also oblivious to brief ballet show, though the guy on the right did look up briefly.
Continuing Gregory's theme of baroque looking skies:
That last shot uses a bit of experimental post processing. I used SilverEfex Pro to create a B/W version with some wide latitude film stock emulation. Then I converted both the original and B/W to Lab mode and copied the L channel from the B/W shot to the color version.
Very nice stormy skies! The first one in particular is really dramatic. Nice PP solution for #3. I've done something similar before, I think, by pasting in a separately processed copy of an image as a luminosity layer in RGB mode.
Here's another one from Manhattan within a block or so of Penn Station:
Najibs, nice shots! I do prefer the 50 Cron as compared to the ZM 50 IMO. I do also see a difference using C1 too
Gregory, love the dramatic storm!
Dierk, great set of portraits!! Beautiful lighting and well executed
Bijltje, very nice B&W shots!
Ron, I am enjoying your street shots Very nice capture of the young girl. The last shot is very nice, look like its shot from the waist.
Luka, really nice dramatic sky shots
Excellent set Robert. My favorite is the "double posted" picture and the last one

This morning I hit the jackpot in terms of weather. Something that happens very rarely here: fog. This was very early in the morning (~5 AM) and the light was just magical and changing by the minute. So I stepped outside and took a couple of shots (and to my annoyance losing a lens cap in the process):
Carsten, sure, but I would have gotten better results with a 5DII as well. Latitude in the highlights isn't the strong point of the M9 and the transition to blown highlights is anything but graceful. And in this case exposing to preserve the highlights wouldn't have made sense as it would have pushed the shadows beyond recovery.
Charles: not a shot from the waist... more so around chest height, but you're right that I didn't look through the camera this time.
Robert that's a great set - I like them all!
Wow Luka, beautiful images! The tonality and colours are amazing. I love the contrast of the pink/magenta against the greens.
Here are a few more from Manhattan on Monday. I only had about 4 hours in town, so I decided to visit the High Line Park and though it's only about 1 mile long, I still had to rush back to catch a train back to the airport, etc. I could have spent all day there. If anyone is curious: High Line Park
First one is the ZM21, last four are with the ZM35C, all on the M9.
This guy in #3 seemed to be self conscious about being photographed, maybe because he knew I was also photographing him. After I got this shot he moved farther down the path out of my line of view. He had a nice Rolleiflex over his right shoulder, which you can't see, so if he's a typical photographer, probably hates being photographed.
It was a pretty busy place... plenty of tourists, lots of people with cameras, and very interesting.
BTW, any thoughts about the NEX-7? I think I'll probably get one in a few months...
Bijltje, very nice set! Love the last two shots
Luka, amazing lighting... magical set of shots!! I really like the 75 Cron in these shots too
Ron, excellent set! I really like the way you make the colour work in your street shots
