Agreed, has a very unique look to it, doesn't it? I do find the 75 summicron to be similar though. It's interesting how Zeiss' look has been consistent over the years but Leica's look has evolved. I like both

Chanks Ajay, Charles, Ryan

Ryan, very nice set. Love the reflection shots. Also the bulldozer is great.

I wonder why a lot of these fantastic images don't show up at the Leica User Forum?

Probably because people don't like to be restricted to 960 pixels in width and don't appreciate having to give up control of their images by uploading to their server without being able to remove them later.

Heh, I couldn't agree less. I find the 75 Cron ASPH to be an optically superb but essentially soulless piece of metal with no distinguishing characteristics. It's actually so far the only Leica lens that I have not liked. And the 50 Lux ASPH is if not my favorite lens, then it shares a first place with the 21 Distagon ZE. But to each his own I guess...

Luka, excellent shots as always, the ZM18 and 28Cron shots from the previous page are superb!

Ryan, more excellent shots with the 50Lux but those ZM25 shots of the tree stump are excellent!! Tons of details.

Wilfredo, excellent B&W shots! Great tonality.

Dierk, excellent examples with the Nocti 0.95! The portrait of Jane is my favorite, well done!! Curious, was this shot wide open?

------
I think supply of lenses may be easing... 50Lux ASPH in chrome readily available and a friend of mine picked up a 35Lux FLE, no wait list.

Strong words. It's one of my favourite lenses, but yes, to each his own. I also seem to be in the minority in my fondness for the Zeiss 1.5/50 as well.

hehe Dierk, you had to post some 75Cron shots after Luka's comments huh? I like the 2nd shot best, but I still think this lens is slightly overrated, but again to each his own

I don't mind the ZM 50/1.5. I haven't used mine a lot since I got the 50 Lux ASPH, but it's a quirky little lens, not without its points. Interesting that you should mention it because I'd say it's exactly the opposite of the 75 Cron ASPH. The latter is optically excellent with a flat field curvature and most aberrations well controlled but with an extremely neutral rendering. The ZM 50/1.5 on the other hand isn't much to write home about optically (Zeiss actually uses it in their white paper as an example of an almost uncorrected lens) but it has loads of 'personality' - i.e a unique signature.

Luka, if you like the 75FL, have you considered trying the 75Lux or 75 Summarit?

Well, I can't say that I'm in love with the focal length. No I haven't tried the 75 Lux, and I've used the 75 Summarit very briefly. The rendering of the 75 Lux does look sweet but I'm not crazy about its size. One big lens (the 90 Cron AA) is about as much as I'm willing to carry. As for the Summarit, I originally intended to buy one but I really did not like the focus ring. In terms of weight and size and build I have no complaints against the 75 Cron (well, if you exclude that it had to take three visits to Solms so far).

Most importantly however, I'm stubborn. I'm not willing to accept defeat and I continue to try to find some way of reaching an understanding with it. And it does work on occasion.. a couple of examples where the rendering hasn't disappointed:

However for the most part it just doesn't do it for me.

I'm actually picking it up tomorrow - it's back from Solms. I really hope they've fixed the back focusing and that they haven't managed to break something else (last time they fixed the aperture ring but messed up the focusing).

Ryan, very nice set I do love the unique colour signature of the 50 Lux.
Dierk, excellent series of shots! Magically portraits. Love the 50 Nocti, a dream lens to own Very nice portraits with the 75 Cron AA too
Joe, love that 75 Lux Very nice shot!
Luka, very nice examples Seriously, you must try the 75 Lux if you have a chance. The 75 Lux feel a lot more ergonomic than the 90 Cron AA, MFD of 0.7m and really great focusing ring. I find it a lot easier to get quick and accurate focusing with the 75 Lux than I do with the 90 Cron AA. I find the design of the 90 Cron V3 better with the focusing than the 90 Cron AA too.

50/2 Summicron-M. Just testing this lens out today. These are straight DNG to JPEG conversions, no other editing, other than 0 saturation for the B&W shots. Love the lens...

Thanks Luka & Charles

Luka, I think the 75Cron can be capable in your hands The 1st, 3rd, 4th & 5th shots really shows what the lens is capable of. I think the 75FL makes for a decent combination with either a 28Cron or 35Lux for a 2 lens kit (when you want more than one lens or when 3 it a crowd).

Nice set najibs. Cute toys

Thanks Luka, Joe, Charles, Malkovic

Dierk - nice shots with the 50 Nocti and 75 Cron. I really like your processing on those photos. The first one of Jane and Paul is my favorite

Joe - nice shot with the 75 Lux. Great composition there....looks like he had too much to drink . Don't get too comfortable with that lens . How do you find focusing it? Do you feel it is too heavy or just about right?

Luka - of your 75 Cron shots always my favorites are your portraits. Anything but I always find the rendering kind of meh....

Malkovic - that is one fine looking M2....my favorite looking M. Looks like yours is in excellent shape, too

90 Summarit
