Charles, beautiful beach shot. I like how you framed the person fishing as a focal point in the picture. Very nice.
Ryan, this last set of flowers are excellent. Really like #1 & 2 a lot.
Welcome back Luka. Love those SF shots, especially #1 & 3. Can't wait to see the rest of your pics.
Luka, you should post the photos here... maybe we can catch up to and overtake the Zeiss ZE/ZF thread Nice set from SF. Though it has been photographed a million times before, like NYC, London, Paris.... I think it's an interesting city with a lot of photographic potential. Unfortunately I haven't been there in about 10 years...
joakim: Thanks! the tree with bench was with the Zeiss ZM 50 Planar, within a stop of wide open, if not wide open, though not sure that makes any difference at web rez.
Ryan, nice sets with the 90 Elmar. I'll admit, it's a lens I wrote off as too expensive for the speed, but since you've been doing so much with it I looked it up on the Leica site and was amazed at how small it is when collapsed. The MTF is also extremely impressive.... though the Zeiss 85 f/4 is also pretty good, but of course doesn't collapse. I'm still leaning towards the 90 Summarit for a balance of speed, performance and price.
Now that I've used the M9 for over 6 month I can see that a 50-90 gap will work pretty well. I'm still toying with options, but 21, 28, 50, 90 seems good. It might be worth getting a 28 just to see how it feels compared to the 35. BTW, I was able to briefly try a 28 Elmarit ASPH and the results look very good. But, now that I'm used to the Zeiss lenses, the Elmarit's aperture ring had very little resistance and the focusing felt too light.
Thanks Charles. I agree, that figure has a very 3D feel in the last image of my previous set. Nice beach scenes! They feel very calm with the low winter light.
Nice set Boris - good luck with the servicing.
Good seeing and good catch in your two Joe!
Fun image thedigitalbean!
Heinz, nice compositions. I really like 1, 2 and 5
Good sets Todd - best of luck incorporating the M9 into your workflow.
KL, I meant to mention in my previous post that I like all three film images, but the timing of #3 in particular. Everyone's ears are busy! I think your question was already answered but you can definitely push TMY, though if you want more grain you might want to try Tri-X or HP5 in certain developers. Nate posted some Fuji Neopan 400 in his Flickr stream recently that looked quite dramatic... it might be another option?

And how about a duck sunset to wrap it up... ZM21:
Joakim, Joe and Ron, thank you guys!!!
Luka, stunning start to your series
Ron, excellent set! I am really liking #1,5 and 6 Beautiful textures and very nice PP'ing.
Luka, nice start to your tip photos. Glad to hear the M9 was your most used system on the trip. Too bad you didn't have a 21 SEM to take with you
Ron, excellent series. The colors and sharpness from the ZM 35 and ZM 50 are excellent.....the last shot of the sunset with the ZM 21 is my favorite though. Regarding the 90 macro, if you are keeping the CV 75 Heliar I say speed isn't an issue at all. You can get in closer which produces magnificent bokeh. Yes, in the low light situates it isn't ideal b/c of the f/4 max BUT since the lens is so small and light I can get an extra stop or two perhaps over what I could with CV 75. The 90 macro is almost impossible to find but I know Ken Hansen has a brand new one left for a good price; I bought the adapter and right angle finder from the set he had
Ryan, beautiful flowers. My favorites are #3 and #5.
Luka, welcome back. I like your first and your last image.
Regarding the stiff focus of my SE 3,4/21mm I got the information from CS and my dealer that the repair will take some time, since they are still looking for a solution for this problem at the moment. They offered me to return the lens. Since it is not clear how long this will take, I accepted the offer and exchanged the lens against a 28 Cron which I got today. I will probably buy the 21 SE again later this year or next year when they found a solution for the focus problem. The sharpness of the 21 SE was really fantastic, even wide open in the extreme corners.
hi Boris,
Sorry to hear about the SEM 21. i have one on order too, wonder if the problem is batch wide or just a few isolated cases? i heard from Red Dot Camera Uk that they also had a batch of lenses with very stiff focussing rings which went back to Leica for a fix up.
Cheers

kl, I think that all SE 21 that are produced until now have this problem. They will make a design change soon to fix this problem. It is still not clear what will happen to the existing lenses. Worst case (for Leica) would be that they have to exchange all existing lenses against new ones.
Boris - All this is upsetting. The new 21mm F3.4 Super-Elmar is on my wish list, and since it's a slow lens, I assumed the focus would be very smooth since there was less glass related mass to push around... I have yet to see one in the states. Does have the 18mm F3.8 Super Elmar have the same problem?
Great shot Charles!
ron, thanks for your comments and you're the only one who noticed the busy ears point - it seems I missed it too! Love your recent shots! keep them coming.
Thanks for the info Boris! Charles, how's your SEM21 pre-order? Stuck with the same news? I will be calling my lens dealer soon....
