Thaks you guys. Great work Ron and Charles. Love the portraits with the 75 Lux. And I personally love the Cementary shots. Very cool.
Loveing life. The 135 2.8 Elmarit is joy to use on the Leica M3 and tolerable on the M9. It seem crazy that the view finder is "so much better" on the M3 than the M9, but it is. It's like night and day. Or perhaps more like the difference between the looking through a dark tunnel and the light of day.
Perhaps I am over doing it, to some degree.
I still say the 135 2.8 Elmarit is one of the coolest looking lenses ever
I have a question for those who have used or are using the Leica X1. Can this camera be used in Manual FOCUS mode only? If so can you describe the focus throw on the lens, does it feel like a quality MF lens? Like what you would expect from Leica.I have used Zeiss MF lenses does it compare at all with them? Any info would be appreciated.
thanks
-Jim
Ron - nice shots from the cemetery. Also, I have confirmed that my ZM 50 does stop at infinity. I had mine sent for calibration BEFORE I received it to make sure everything was perfect . I hate the thought of buying a lens, using it, then thinking about whether I should send it in or not
Charles - beautiful portrait with the 75 Lux. I'm with KL....I don't have much left in my M budget for 2011 . I did get a new toy....for now - 90 Macro Elmar. I will give it a few days before I decide if its for me or not. I want a sharp close focusing lens and this has the highest magnification rate of any M lens but the 75 Cron and 75 Lux aren't far behind.
Gregory - nice portraits
I took the camera out after a meeting the other night....a few handheld night shots
Great job with the re-PP on the portrait Charles!
Gregory - very nice portrait set. Love the look of the Nocti!
Ryan - thanks for checking your Planar... who did you send it to for the calibration check? Nice set and good luck with the 90.
Thanks Boris!
Looks like everyone is busy elsewhere... this thread almost fell off the front page!
I'll continue with some more from the cemetery:
All with the CV75 f/1.8. At least the first three were all wide open near the 90cm minimum focusing distance.
Ryan, I had the 90/4 Macro for some time, and it doesn't focus all that close (1:2.5 from memory), but unless you do real macros, maybe you don't need that anyway. It is slow, of course, at f/4, which ultimately made me trade it for a 90 AA, but it has real sweet boke.

Yes, I'm not into true macro and the .8 mfd is fine considering the high magnification rate. The bokeh was my main complaint with the Elmarit-M. From the few shots so far the 90 macro bokeh is far smoother. If I really end up liking it I will consider adding the eyes. The sharpness even wide open is impressive near and far
Ron - another great set! The CV 75 shots look great. Are they wide open? My Planar was sent to DAG
So, how much processing was done to these M9/50/1.0 shots, Gregory?
In shade and direct light, the color seems to be very saturated. Is that a feature of the nocti? I see the darker corners, but have the colors been kicked up, too?
Thanks for the comments, Wozza604, Boris, Edward, Joakim
Wozza, I like those 50 Sonnar shots you posted, very nicely rendered.
Ron, great set of pics, the metal decking, your "backyard" and the cemetery. Love the rendering of the ZM50 Planar on the 2nd shot of the Hamilton Harbor.
Gregory, do you carry the M9 24/7? I'm impressed with your continuous postings. Nice cheeky pic with the policewoman doll after your recent ordeal with the cops
Boris, nice work with the botanical series and the shots from Bürgerfest!
Charles, please don't temp us with more 75Lux shots! Nice portrait with the lens and beautiful shots of the countryside with the 28Cron.
Ryan, congrats on the 90Macro. Share some pics soon. Very nice set with the 35Lux.
Joakim, is that your weekend car?
Some fantastic street working getting posted here. Good to see.
I have been busy working and havnet had much time for the forums. Or even having time to post process the work from my M8.
Jim, I don't do much post processing for the most part. I mean I using I photo for crying out loud.
Sometimes, I bump up te color but for the shots your asking about, I barley touched them. A couple points of sharpness, drop down the high lights ... good to go. No extra color added. The light that day was really intense.
Some shots from the staging area of the Calgary Stampede Parade. I havnt had time to work on/see the M8 images but I will get to them.

It's a fun lens. The adapter is fun too. I don't use it all that much; should use it more. I never really found the f/4 that slow - when I need something faster, I usually want something faster than f/2.8 or f/2 anyway, and don't mind a shorter focal length. The 75/1.4 fits the bill
It's obviously not a real macro lens, even with the adapter, but it and the adapter are small enough that it can really expand a 28 + 50 kit's capabilities without adding much in the way of bulk. Particularly useful when traveling.
