I've been away on vacation for a week without a computer and it looks like I missed film week A lot of great photos as usual but with a backlog of seven pages it's way to many to comment on all of them. Great work everyone!

Thanks Ryan and Phil!

I very happy with the Lux 50, but I had some serious problems with the combination M8+ND filter. Using a dark ND filter, like the B+W 106 or 110, I'm getting nearly B/W images and loose nearly all colors. I suppose this has something to do with the high IR-transmission of these filters in combination with the high IR sensitivity or the M8. In my opinion the typical long exposure shots of flowing water at daytime are impossible with the M8. Could someone with a M9 please verify, that this problem does not exist with the M9. If not, I'm not sure if I would still buy the M9-P.
Here is an example (all settings LR default besides WB at auto):

I saw this comparison (actually V700) with the Plustek 7600 on Leica forums and the Plustek was ever so slightly better. VERY slightly. However, the thing that would steer me away is the lack of an automatic feeder. I just don't have time to waste sitting next to a scanner that only does a marginally better job than the V700/V750. I will search for the comparison.

Ryan - since you asked me once about film, the shot I posted above ^^^ is a Costco scan. C-41 processing + scanning is about $5. Instead of buying your own scanner, you can shoot 10 rolls or so and then send your "5-stars" negatives to a lab for a high-resolution scan for your archives.

Love the reflections on the Ektar - I haven't tried this with an RF, but even with a DSLR it can be tricky!

Thanks Heinz, Joe, Charles & Ron.

Heinz, Ron & Ryan, are you guys coordinating your shots? Nice series of reflections

Joe & Ron - excellent airport shots! Excellent Lausanne series as well Ron. Looks a bit empty without the people though

Joe, regarding Ilford Pan-F 50 - to my great surprise - I love it! Tri-X has always been a sort of reference for me as to how B/W film should look like. I think however I actually prefer the Ilford.

Charles, cool horse action shots. I think you might be pusing the ISO limit of the M9 though. I don't think I need a 90 Cron AA as much as you need a 0.95 Noctilux!

Phil, love the boots. You really know how to use that 35/2 wide open.

Boris, great shots of your daughter. I was actually fooled there for a second - I quickly browsed through the post from the bottom of the page and I thought I was looking at Ryan's shot of his daughter and thought.. "When did Ryan get the 50 Lux?". Anyway, splendid shots.

I have a huge backlog of both digital and film shots that I have yet to process. Here are just three picked at random:

Thanks Charles for the confirmation. Do you had exposure times around 30 seconds? Was there any reduction of the color saturation visible?

Boris

Boris, with the ND filters, I have not noticed any colour saturation reduction, with 20 to 30 second exposures

Heinz - nice shots. I wonder how much that guy has made off the picture you have in the first shot.

Luka - great shots. I really like that tree within the green shot. Yes, I dream of the 50 Lux ASPH

Charles - another nice shot at night. Great action

Iv been crazy busy shooting, but I make it a point to check in on this thread for time to time keep inspired.

Thanks Ron . Love your work man. I really appreciate your support. YOur comments about my street shooting came to mind as I was shooting a car show this weekend. The street was covered with folks just waiting to have there picture taken. A street photographer paradise .

Oh, and there was some cars there as well

Thanks Ryan - I am not an expert on printing, but they are 2000x3000 pixels at 72 ppi/dpi, so I think if you massaged it in PS you could maybe get a serviceable 6x9, definitely a good 4x6. Honestly for the style of photography I use my RF for, it's not something I would ever need to print large. However, for $2.25, it can scanned again professionally down the road so I can make a billboard out of it.

Corposant - very nice shot! I used that same exact couple over the weekend...Zeiss Ikon + 90 Elmarit-M . I am looking forward to seeing the results. I used Tri-X and Ilford 125....Portra 400 was actually my third roll in the bag but didn't quite make it

Hi Ryan,
Tx for the kind words! Those are not my friends (lol), just people i met on the street and whom
'loved' me for having a tripod handy! haha ... so i offered to take the pic for them and it turned out they are from a university that i had some dealings with last year (small world). Think it was either a bet gone wrong for someone or 'charity' event which was the official reason given to me for the couch lugging. They were lugging it across the entire bridge (crzy britons). Street lamp only, which was super fortuitous how it turned out super nice. All i did was asked them to freeze the smile for the 1 sec exposure.

Cheerio!

Ryan, thanks Really nice set of shots! I love #2. I don't think I have the patience for multi shots
Gregory, very nice car shots! My favourites are with the 50 Nocti
Corposant, nice portrait shot!
Boris, really nice shots! Great close up in #1!!
KL, great set of shots! Love #3, the shot of the couch. So cool to be able sit on a couch on a busy street I really like the portrait #2, how it flows along the diagonal, and the soft rendering to the skin
