I haven't seen this photo mentioned here yet, but the new M9 looks like it will be called the M9-P, and can be seen here (by Seal). Look at the top plate for the last bit of the name.
Charles, the portraits are just excellent! The PP is fantastic. I like #2 a lot from your last set here, great job I'm going to need some PP tips from you soon, I just don't know how you get that look
Mirek, nice shots. #2 has great lighting
Nice job, Joe. The past few times I have made it a point to do shots like this and the few people scattered on the streets here duck and jump out of the way. Why can't people just be rude and try to ruin my picture ? Don't they know what I'm trying to do?
Today I tested my new Elmar 24 against my ZM25. Since my M8 is at the moment on the way from Solms I used my NEX5 for the test. Another advantage of the NEX is the 14x lifeview with the possibility to focus on the corners to compensate for FC.
Short summary: The Elmar 24 is one of the best lenses I've ever tested. It is in all aspects at least as good as the ZM25, but with much better corner performance at f/3.8-f/5.6. It has (on a crop camera) perfect corner sharpness wide open, great colors and very high contrast.
At the moment I have only some boring wall shots, but next weekend I will take the Elmar to the Bavarian Forest. Nevertheless here are some 100% corner crops:
Elmar 24 @f/4.0:
ZM 25 @f/4.0:
Elmar 24 @f/4.0:
ZM 25 @f/4.0:
Now I need a M9 ;-). Maybe I will get one when the rumored update (M9-P) becomes available.
Charles, excellent set at the beach!! Like #1 & 2 from the first set and both the 28Cron shots from the second set. The cloud formation on the 28Cron shot is really nice!
Heinz, really nice set with the 90 Elmar and Ektar. #1,3 & 4 are my favorites.
Gregory, another very nice set! #4 & 5 are excellent!
Phil, nice "pop" to the 35 Biogon shot. Are you starting to collect multiple 35mm lenses now?
------
M9 28Cron. I really like this lens even when I miss focus on the foreground subjects . The 2nd shot kind of reminds me of the smoothness of my 35CronIV.
Mirek, Phil and Joe, thanks guys The 28 Cron is my pick now for water/landscapes!
Heinz, very nice set with the M2 and Ektar. Great rendering!
Boris, interesting comparisons!!
Gregory, really nice set of shots! Great variety of subjects
Phil, nice shot with the 35/2 Biogon!
Joe, excellent set of shots! I do like how you connected with the people, and being closer
Interesting, M9-P!! I do hope it is only cosmetic, otherwise it will have to be on the future wish list
It will be interesting to see what kind of improvements, if any, come with the M9-P. If Leica addresses high ISO, faster buffer clearing and card write speeds, shutter noise - i.e. actual performance improvements - then my guess is it might be a worthwhile consideration because an M10 would likely be a couple years away. If on the other hand it's only cosmetic, such as chrome finish, lack of the Leica red dot and model name, maybe a better LCD, then I would wonder if it's a stop-gap until the M10, maybe a year later.
M9 & ZM50P
Thanks everyone for your comments on the duck series
Charles, love the PP on the portraits and especially the drama in the sky of the first image in the most recent set.
Joe - great street images as always. Are there a lot of CCTV surveillance cameras in Boston? In the image of the guy with the baseball cap you can see two on the crossbar over the street.
joakim - nice bench & duck series. I like the 'impounded' bench.
KL, thanks for the background info on Marina Bay. I was curious too since the buildings are frequently in your images. Not sure I'm crazy about the overall design. The golden sunrise image with the museum in the middle gives me a pseudo Blade Runner impression. That, or of a partially finished but abandoned development by a middle eastern or central asian dictator. The 'boat' on the three towers is an interesting idea, but I find the design of the towers to be quite uninspired.
Luka, I meant to say I liked the Biogon test series, particularly the first very colorful image. Also the boat scene from the more recent set. Good luck with the 75 Cron.
Gregory, great set as usual!
Heinz - nice demolition chaos!
Mirek - I see you're back in business - good luck with the system.
Phil - congrats on the new lens.
Boris - it will be interesting to see the results on the M8. I've heard very good things about the 24 Elmar.
Phil - Nice shot with the 35 Biogon. Very Zeiss looking shot. You are certainly playing with a lot of new lenses lately
Ron - nice shots. Mainly because of you I have a 50 Planar on the way
Malkovic - the first one is a very interesting shot and #2 is a great capture. I used to think that a photo wasn't good unless it was perfectly sharp....boy has that changed . #2 is a great shot!
A couple 35 Lux shots
And a few 50 Cron III shots (Thanks Joe! )
Joe - very nice shots. Love the pp and the expression in #1
