Another shot from today. This time in the gardens of the Royal Palace of Colorno here in Parma, Italy. A stunningly beautiful place for photography. Once again SL3/50mm APO-SL.
Shot directly into noon-time, harsh, tropical light that is so bright that your eyes hurt without sunglasses. The high contrast of the image reflects the contrast of the scene. The Summaron-M f/5.6 28mm lens gives some glow and subtle softness in the harsh highlights, but I added a bit more using the "Orton Effect" from the Cobalt-Image profiles (at 46%).

side note: the Godox IM20 (featured) is probably the best small flash for the Leica M (there's a slightly larger IM30 that takes AAA batteries). Just the right size when you need the fill flash where even the already small-ish SF24D is too big to lug around...downside is it's manual only ... they have the IT30 that supports TTL but for some reason it's not available for Leica (yet)...as noted, it's practical use case is for fill-flash because as main source of light it's not great unless you're going for that specific look...and also you're not Bruce Gilden
I had to go to DHL and mail a package today. I came across this old (Gypsy?) woman sitting in an alcove of the famous old theater here in Parma. Using zone focus I didn't even stop or put the camera to my eye but she still noticed me taking her image. But I like her expression and gesture. Nice to live in such a beautiful and target rich enviornment. Photo opportunities every time we leave the house. Parma was made for Leica M cameras.
