In Italy there is a charming bit of local culture called "Aperitivo". In the early evening between work and dinner you meet with friends, have a cocktail, and the restaurant or bar serves you free snacks. Most choose a wine, Aperol spritz, or Prosecco, as their drink of choice, but mixed drinks and beer are also available. In Parma our favorite snack is a plate of the local Parmigiano Reggiano cheese with honey, thin sliced Prosciutto di Parma ham, and fried bread. It is a wonderful way to spend an hour or two with your loved ones and friends. My Wife and I end up enjoying Aperitivo at least 3-4 times a week.
There are many nice places near my home to enjoy Aperitivo. Out for a walk with my Wife one evening we came across this beautiful outdoor spot on a small side street, and enjoyed a peaceful little after work refreshment. Impossible to resist. Our move to Italy adventure is about lifestyle after all...
Although it was early evening with the light diminishing, I wanted to shoot at f8 and keeping the distance dialed into about 6’ to shoot without lifting the camera to my eye, knowing of course that the auto ISO would be sky high.
Some shots from this past weekend in Chicago. I moved there in 2022 and it's been fun to see the changes in my photography as my skill and equipment have improved over the years.
These were almost all shot with a Leica M10-R and VL Nokton 35/1.5. Only the garden bridge shot was done with the VL APO-Skopar 90/2.8.
