I’m feeling a little weird about good “bad” photos. You know, images that are bad *photos* but good *pictures*. I don’t know how else to describe the aesthetic I’m feeling at times these days.

For me, it seems so *hard*. Like the d lux is just pick it up and shoot some shit. It’s not going to make the greatest composition but it will capture the moment. I’m sure other point and shoot cameras can do the same thing but the d lux is a Leica that’s price competitive with the others. You can’t say that about any other Leica camera.
And the Leica fotos app is miles better than either the Fuji or Nikon equivalents which makes quick downloads and sharing so much more pleasant and that’s the point of point and shoot, IMO.

I see no reason that the D-Lux 8 wouldn't get at least as good a composition as the best cameras available. In fact it could be argued that the zoom makes great composition more likely than a fixed focal length.
That’s true. It’s just that the composition feels secondary to some of the other things about shooting with the camera. It’s really hard for me to describe and likely more due to the novelty of a P&S for me. But the essence of a good “bad” photo is akin to what is captured by the notion of “brat” in Charli XCX lingo.
I guess what I’m getting at is something that has been itching my brain since I got turned on to the photos an artist like Poppy makes. She’s a photographer but she also captures something I haven’t been able to articulate.
