Yes to both. The SL3 has pretty good dynamic range - I lifted the exposure a little bit in post. I always shoot 1/3-2/3 stops underexposed both for shutter speed and because I've always found that colors look better slightly underexposed on my Leicas.

This past Saturday our local photography club was out on a street photography photo walk. One of my friends and fellow photographers is doing a new website to show his work. He asked me to shoot a candid portrait of his about page. Although I was primarily shooting my M11, because this would only be shown digitally on a website resolution was not an issue, so I decided to use my D-Lux 8 and some fill light for the portrait. This gave me the chance to test the Eye Auto Focus and some other features of the camera.
This is the result. I went for a casual, friendly, and approachable look with him holding his favorite camera. It is his Nikon Zf and 24-120 lens. He loves the portrait, and it is already up on his website so I consider the experiment a success.

Those of us used to shooting M cameras, and doing everything manual will resist the auto modes. I am the same way big time. But as an experiment I tried the Auto modes on everything, Aperture, Shutter Speed, ISO, Auto Focus (surprisingly good on non fast moving subjects). The camera makes really good decisions. Usually as good as I would have made, and produces excellent images this way. Surprisingly better that any other camera I have tried in Auto Modes. The portrait above was done entirely Auto everything. The Exposure Compensation dial is all that is needed to fine tune stuff. Keep an open mind give it a try. Fully manual is instantly available and as enjoyable as any other Leica camera because the workflow and controls are very Leica like and the same as my other leica cameras.
