Scenes from Manchester, NH. I've been here for two weeks on an assignment shooting with my Sony. However, I found a few brief moments to take a walk with my M11.
After lunch yesterday, I went for a walk in the North Park neighborhood. This an artsy and very diverse area which I really enjoy. However, like all such areas there is a less desirable element present. I saw these three guys who were obviously working together doing whatever they were up to. Constantly watching nervously in all directions, and communicating silently with their eyes and body language. My years in Africa and other such environments has me sensitised to such things more than most.
I wanted to capture this predator behaviour in an image, but did not want to spark a confrontation by blatantly taking their picture. So, I leaned up against a small tree, set my camera up for exposure, and range focus. Then I shot from waist level estimating the composition. I have practiced this skill. While not perfected yet for me, this time it worked out pretty well. I was able to capture their connection to each other and they never recognized that their picture had been taken.
Well, I don't see any of my images hanging in the Louvre in Paris. But by request, I did make this print of a wonderful old door as a Christmas present for a family member. It is printed on a very artfully textured textured Canson Rag paper and looks nice that way. She plans to hang it in her newly remodeled powder room at her house. A humble place to exhibit my work for sure, but still a place.
Another impromptu portrait from the Boardwalk crew yesterday evening. He says he grew the beard to hide the fact that they removed all his bottom teeth.
