This guy had a wagon full of puppies he was trying to give away. He was usually surrounded by women playing with them. However, in a familiar theme he went home alone with all the puppies he came with.
While staking out the "What Happens in PB" wall, I noticed that the low angle of the Sun was casting interesting shadows. I experimented a bit to find a position that showed the sign, a good shadow, left out the people casting the shadow, and most importantly didn't include my shadow (I hate when that happens). Just as I began to get all that figured out, and waiting for the right person at the right distance to go by, the sun went behind the incoming fog bank. No more shadows. Damn.
In the end, This was the best image I ended up getting of that scene. But all things considered It captures my concept, and I like it.
I have my Sony A1 configured with a whole lot of custom buttons and functions. It is amazing for how I shoot that camera. However, my approach and shooting style is very different with my M11. It really has only three custom buttons. Still, since I shoot entirely in manual mode I was having trouble deciding on a useful function for the third button. I finally settled on the Frame Rate function. In this instance it came in handy. When I saw this guy coming down the boardwalk at a high speed, I was able to switch from single shot which I had been shooting all afternoon to High Frame rate so I could take a burst as he passed through the shadow creating zone. I would never have been able to time him well enough in single shot mode.
Just outside the framed crop the bicyclist casting the shadow can be seen. It adds a bit more authenticity when he his included. I cannot decide which way I prefer it yet.
What do you guys think, the more authentic, or the first more graphic image?
