Escaping from the rain in the Resurrect Art Coffee House, housed in a repurposed 100+ year old Methodist (& briefly Lutheran) church in Seward, Alaska.
This weekend it is Comic Con here in San Diego. The town is buzzing with activity, people in costumes all over the streets. I have never attended this event in all the years it has been held. Today since I was downtown anyway I decided to go for my daily walk near the Conventions Center.
I still find shooting events with my Leica a challenge. The M11 does great with exposure, but the focus is up to me. Today I did well and pretty much every shot was properly exposed and in focus. I found the problem was getting any kind of natural street style candid shots. I guess these people don't spend all that time and effort on their costumes because the don't want to be noticed. Point any lens in their direction and they instantly start posing.
All shot were with the Leica M11, and 35mm Summilux ASP v5. Some focused by rangefinder, and some by Zone Focus. Both worked well today. Practice is always a good way to invest your time.
I tried to be sneaky and get a candid but he caught me and posed.
The actors strike had a few protestors here today.
