Ryan, Really nice shot! You will be missed from this thread, but you will contributing your shots on other threads, which is really what is all about. Photos and not the gear
Thank you Joe, and you have been missed
Nice shots. The 35 Cron is a really nice lens in combo with the M8/9.
Thanks Rod there is no PP, no WB adjustment, AWB, and just using the ChromoSoft curve correction for the M9 in RAW. I was going to only attach the B&W shots, but I think it is helpful to see what the skin tones as they are.
Charles, those are really good low light shots, particularly the first one. Skin tone is right on the money. Is that AWB out of the camera or did you adjust it in PP?
Thank you Ryan This is an old friend of the family, who is 89 years old and full of life. We were last night at a Malaysian restuarant celebrating his wife's birthday.
I am with you, as I love low light photography, is the reason I have the 5DII with fast glass. The D700 is a great camera, and I almost switched to it, when I was having numberous problems with the AF. Moving to ZE's with MF solved this for me.
Form factor and weight is another important one for me, is why I would not opt for a 1DIV or a D3 unless it is important part of generating an income. The 2 professionals that I have as instructors, have the D3s/x , and they are brilliant cameras.
The next 6 months will be exciting as new technology will be revealed, some of it at Photokina, maybe the NEX 7 date.
Thank you Rod The WB was set to AWB, but set back to Tungsten in ACR, with Chromosoft curves. Then reduced the saturation to -25 in CS5. I have been finding with 50 Lux, that the colours are very saturated and vibrant with no PP. But after reducing the colour saturation, the skin tones are very natural and pleasing to me. This has been a problem with the 5DII and L lenses in the past, trying to achieve natural skin tones in the way I perceive it should be.
Charles, did you take any pics of the food in the Malaysian restaurant ? I was born in Malaysia and miss my local food, luckily for me there is a good Malaysian restaurant here in Boston.
The only reason I'm keeping a D700 is for low light pics of my kid in winter. I badly need the high ISO and 1.4 glass as the winters are dark here.. The M8 is pretty bad with high iso and can't afford a M9 or a 35 Lux Asph for now
I really like these types of shots. The poor high iso gives these types of images a unique look that I really like. Of course, we can't get by with grainy shots all the time....but it does work in some instances.
I hate to give up the M8 too, but I am so used to fast glass and the high iso capabilities of my D700 and I want that in the M8 too. I can't afford/justify two systems and spending a couple thousand on a Lux when I can get a Nikon 24 1.4 for less
Thanks Joe No I did not take any shots of the food, but next time I will.
Joe, nice low light shots. It is always a challenge to get it right, no matter what camera and lens. Great feel to the shot
Ryan, really nice shots Good to see some more shots with the CV 35/1.4 MC. Really like the #1 and #4. It is good to see the colour version, as it gives you a much better idea about how the lens renders. As a landscape lens, it is great.
Rod, really nice portraits, particularly #1. I'm with Ryan, love the look of the Lux.
I am amazed just what an excellent lens the Lux is. For the moment I am content, leaving the 50 Lux on the M9, and learning how to properly use it. When I frequented these threads before, I never appreciated the quality of the lens, as you I was comparing via a monitor rather actual large prints. The same could be said for a lot of other lenses and gear.

Thanks Charles. I have to agree. I'm a serious lens changer and this is one of the few times that I've actually thought about going out with just this lens and no others. Part of it is the IQ but it's also an easy lens to use. Focus is quick and mostly accurate when my eyes don't mess up.
I was shooting some shots inside a holistic medicine shop for their new website, and I thought I'd share why the 75 Cron (and I guess the 50 lux) are such great lenses... very sharp, with great bokeh and 0.7m min focus
