For me it's the size and 39mm filter thread that makes it a winner. I had to adjust the lens' focus stop to focus a little past infinity. This way I can get the mid-frame and edges sharp due to the len's field curvature. Even if the 21/1.4 is better, I would still take the 21/3.5 for the size. For me it's definitely sharp enough.
If you need some DNG files taken with the lens let me know, and I'll see what I can do...

The focus adjust isn't too difficult, but thats just me. May be a different story for the next person. One needs to partially disassemble the lens. But it all depends on how your lens is calibrated. Yours might be perfect and mine was the odd one out. I wouldn't worry about it, especially if you can return/exchange a lens.
The 21/1.4 is just big and hefty, and that just goes against what the M system means to me. My kit needs to stay fairly compact. I think I'm more likely to go buy the Leica Super Elmar 21mm f/3.4 ASPH if I ever feel the need to upgrade.
At first I thought this to be a Bricklin, but all the Bricklin's I have seen have gull wing doors. The entire roof and windshield seem to lift forward for entry on this.
Could just be one of those old fiberglass kits on a VW chassis..
