It is the last day of April now. Right on time the typical May Grey has descended on normally bright and sunny San Diego. The light is terribly flat and boring. But it is like living inside of a giant light box, so I decided to try something different today. I installed my longest M lens and went down to the boardwalk to try and take spontaneous portraits using the range finder so I could practice focusing fast enough to get some decent shots. It actually worked out better than I had expected and most of my shots have decent focus.
This first one is of Meadow. She sat down on the beach wall just down from me. So, of course I engaged her hoping she would give me permission to take a portrait. She has a bright, open, and fun personality, and a unique look. I enjoyed my brief visit with her while I shot.
No, I don't just practice on women. This guy was walking by at a good clip making clouds of smoke from his vap. He said he saw me shooting and wasn't sure, then noticed the cool camera and decided it was OK. Nice guy.
