On the last day of every year a group of photographers and I go to the San Diego Zoo. I have kept this tradition for a good number of years.
This year, I decided to challenge myself and bring my Leica M10-P and as my only lens my Summicron 50mm instead of my usual Sony A1 and a long Zoom. I also decided to shoot for mostly monochrome images.
I know this would not be great for the animals, so I concentrated on capturing the people who were visiting the Zoo, and the Zoo environment itself. Really I don't need any more portraits of caged animals, so I looked forward to this change.
My legs are still not recovered enough to walk the Zoo, so I rented a mobility scooter for the day. This limited my access, kept me much lower to the ground than I am used to, and made me look for different opportunities. It was drizzling or raining most of the day so the light was low and flat, adding more challenge trying to make interesting images. A whole new way of experiencing the Zoo.
Over the next few days I will process the images and post here. It was a fun, refreshing experiment, and I learned some things, which was the point.

Got an m10 Mono a couple weeks ago, took it to Kona, HI. For the 1st time ever I lost all my images (650) from (a) the trip, somehow managed to format them to oblivion.
Anyways, my 35mm f/1.4 v2 Pre Asph Summilux has been glued to it. They seem made for each other. A few from the last couple days.
Oh no! Sorry to hear about your loss of your images!!! Did you take images on that card after the format? Otherwise it should still be mostly recoverable...

Unfortunately yes i shot over the formatted disk...I didn't even think about trying to save them once formatted.
Another couple from the Zoo yesterday. Again, all with the M10-P and 50 mm Summicron v5.
This guy had one of those faces and British accents that was just fun to be around, so I had to take a quick shot of him. This was not posed, he just happened to catch me doing it.
